This is why people take issue with Pep being called the greatest manager in the world.
He assembled a team of quality players - possibly by breaking the rules but I digress - that are capable of carrying out his game plan and covering the weaknesses of his game plan.
However in recent seasons after being put under investigation, City have been on a level playing field with everyone else in the transfer market, gambling on players that they wouldn't have gambled on beforehand, or not signing players for positions where they need a better squad option. The players they have signed are Players that either aren't as good, or at least aren't as capable of carrying out Pep's gane plan without weaknesses being exploited.
It is in these scenarios that the best managers are able to adapt and still come out on top.

Pep will never be as good as Fergie. His teams have to be the very very best to achieve. He couldn't win a league title with Tom Cleverley in midfield. He couldn't take Aberdeen to two league titles and a UEFA Cup win vs Madrid.

7 bad games doesn’t change much for me tbh, Pep is quite obviously the greatest. Just the influence he’s had on other coaches and youth development all over the world is testament to that.
I don’t think anyone is trying to copy breaking the transfer record more than anyone else and bullying refs tbh. Their legacies are miles apart.

But is anyone seriously questioning how good a coach he is and his influence in the game?

How so? I hate both clubs with a passion.
Never once in my life had an issue with admitting Liverpool have had some incredible teams and managers in the past, even if they were mostly before my time. Klopp was a tremendous coach too.
If Fergie had won 13 league titles and 2 European cups plus countless cups with Liverpool he'd still be the best.

Honestly, I don't think you can really compare the 2, because in different eras, they had to do different things for their club.
Fergie really was one of the last old-school managers, where he really was involved with everything in the club - very few people are capable of doing that, and as we have seen, it makes it difficult for anyone else to come in because he did so much for the club. That's not a criticism of Fergie, it's just the way it was, but it mean the club rested on its laurels somewhat as Fergie was able to mask things that maybe weren't being properly run.
These days, especially at bigger clubs, where you have DOFs, other support staff etc, the manager really has a more coaching role, and it's here that Pep really stands out. Let's be honest, he changed how people approached the game coaching-wise and influenced so many others and really did raise the bar.
So for me, both were / are 2 great managers will different skill-sets, to call Pep a bald fraud just lacks a recognition of his talents.
