How much do clubs get from the TV rights at the moment?

The PL is about to self destruct

Go and concentrate on winging about the Olympic staduim and let us get on with worrying about our own club ok!

you lot dont have a problem benefiting from a staduim already built by the tax payer do you? hypocrite!

If they want to negotiate their own TV rights, they they have to negotiate their way into a non-FA league as far as I'm concerned.

2 comments which this Liverpool numpty said really wound me up:

"So is it right that the international rights are shared equally between all the clubs? Some people will say: 'Well you've got to all be in it to make it happen.'

You've answered your own rhetorical question there mate. All clubs that are part of the Premier League past and present have made the league what it is today. Just because your club has fallen behind in the last 2 seasons prior to you selling out in Asia doesn't mean you get to slag off Bolton or "lesser" clubs in your own eyes.

"What we are doing is disadvantaging ourselves against top European clubs."

Wow coming from a club who has spent years in the CL in the richest domestic league in the world your greed is disgusting. You have a large following abroad and a club that trades healthily on its historical achievements so to plead poverty is simply an insult to football league clubs and other european clubs who dream of such wealth and success in their lifetimes. On top of that you've just spunked millions in the last transfer window.

Get a grip you

We don't want the OS, the fans never did! Levy did.. He did kind of use this to bait in the council & the goverment to back the new stadium

Soooooo

Hardly hypocritical considering my concerns are for the PL as a league and not Tottenham as I don't think we'd do too badly from it. The fact you're club is willing to belittle other clubs in an attempt to seek more cash for tv rights is pathetic. It will destroy the PL as we know it.

Agreed with Benny, its disgusting what Liverpool are doing!.

I can see where the problem lies! £20 million on Henderson! £35 million on Carrol!!!!

many would argue that isn't a bad thing.

Personally i think within a decade we'll see a european super league. Quite how it will work i don't know, but i feel it is on the way.

There are many reasonable arguments against this, especially if you come from the stand point of the smaller clubs, who have less of a following overseas.
But when you read point 5,
' Why should a team that has bought badly for 5 years be rewarded with more money? It's their own fault they're run poorly.', you realize you listening to yet another t!t who cant be reasoned with, because any judgment they might have had, is severely clouded by jealousy toward another team.

Of course your concerns are for Spurs, as you will not benefit from this, dont give me the rubbish that you are concerned for everyone else please load of carp and you know it.

And again.
Look spurs fans, your not our natural enemy.
You had 1 year in the top 4, that's gone now, so please return to you natural enemies, ie, arsenal, and any other club looking to finish the season somewhere between 6th, and 9th.

posted on 12/10/11

Correct me if im wrong but isnt this about OVERSEAS tv rights???

wouldnt that make point two completely invalid?

Are you implying that Liverpool will finish in the top 5 above Arsenal and Spurs, because that puts you on a whole new level of stupid.

I think it's quite amusing reading the reactions of the Spurs fans. The bottom line is that these sort of developments worry them as in reality they realise that they don't belong in the elite of the world's club. Their worldwide fanbase is much more limited than other clubs.

Spurs are busy with their application to re-house to the Olympic stadium (built with tax payers hard earned money, and will be renovated with tax payers hard earned money). The fans of course say they do not want it but I would imagine if their application was successful the supporters would quite happily sit there and watch their team.

The plus of course for Spurs would be the extra money such a move would generate. Perhaps the extra revenue could be used to buy one of the many strikers they have been linked with or to pay the wages of Arsenal/Man City/Real Madrid reject Adebayor

Teams like spurs have always been financially dragged along by the success of teams like Liverpool and united.
Does anyone really believe that the amount of money paid for TV rights around the world has anything much to do with teams like spurs, west ham, bolton etc, well no, of course it doesnt.
If Liverpool, United, and to a lesser extent, arsenal and chelsea, were not in this league, then the tv rights for premiership football, would be worth a fraction of what they are now.
So at their current level of spending, most clubs in this league would go bust. Including the so well run spurs.
If it were not also for the success of these teams in the champions league, then smaller clubs like spurs and everton would never have the opportunity to play in the champions league, as fourth place would mean nothing other than a europa league place.
So show a little gratitude spurs fans, if it were not for standing on the shoulders of giants, you may not have been financially stable, and you may never have enjoyed you little adventure in europe last season.

Coming from a Utd fans POV (and we'd stand to gain the most by individual rights) its a stupid idea, looking at Spain shows that.

Yes the Premier League has its bad points, yes the same teams have dominated for a lot of the time, but if we had individual rights it would become massivly predictable, and you'd up with Rangers/Celtic and Barca/Real.... a country mile ahead of everyone else.

Who from Liverpool has been talking about this?

Stinks of 'we need more cash cause Ken keeps wasting it on junk!'

No surprise after what i read this morning about them nearly going bust last year.

Individual TV rights will ruin our league!

posted on 12/10/11

I'm not worried one bit about Spurs' stature in world football. I'd hate to see our club turned into some tacky global brand. What stinks about this whole charade is this guy Ayre's obvious greed in trying to skim as much money from Asia as possible. Is this really what Liverpool football club is about?? I'm sick of greed in football and this is just another mug who wants to line his pockets showing the football industry for what it really is at times.

"If Liverpool, United, and to a lesser extent, arsenal and chelsea, were not in this league, then the tv rights for premiership football, would be worth a fraction of what they are now."

This is laughable jloo1978 you are a complete plank.

Agreed if this goes ahead, it's stupid. But you know the majority of fans that will benefit from big clubs, in particular the short-sighted unintelligent ones, will lap it up. That's the attitude of the majority of supporters of clubs, don't actually care about football at all, just their own club.

Your own manger is talking about it albert.
As for wasting money on junk, well, come saturday tea time, this junk will only be 3 points behind your collection of shrewd buys, and great players.
Go figure.
