So to sum up, winning is bad as it gives a false sense of optimism, losing will keep the players grounded a gives a good base to build from
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also stopping Liverpool winning the title. We have a six pointer double header coming up against Arsenal and City. Lose and that's 6 points to the chasing pack of Liverpool. Win win for us. Apart from the lose part.

Would losing the next few games actually be a good thing in the long run? Should we hope we lose them for the benefit of the club? Also losing tonight gives Arsenal a chance of catching Liverpool. And losing to City would do the same.

Its going to take a miracle for United to be playing in CL next season. Lets just be realistic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't call finishing 5th a miracle and that might be enough. We also could win the Europa League let's not forget.
I think finishing 1st is already gone obviously. 2nd to 3rd would probably take a miracle. Anything from 4th downwards is possible and totally depends on how he gets us playing. We have plenty of quality when it's utilized the correct way however when it isn't we look a shambles.

I agree with most of the comments so far and all this is proving is how incredibly stupid and spineless INEOS were in the summer. This guy should have had been given a summer training camp, tour and £100-150m to spend on players that fit his system.
I know we can't change the past now but this is why I was so vocal about how crap that decision to keep ETH was. It was the most predictable sacking in the history of football.

I've already accepted that LFC are going to win the league and I am, surprisingly, at peace with it. It's going to be overshadowed by our resurgence and City's punishment/non-punishment anyway and it won't last for them. They'd be lucky to end up a Wenger Arsenal at best.
