If the Qataris took over and did, what on the surface looks like continuing where the last lot left off, they would be pillered. Yet INEOS gets a free pass.
⛽🔥😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who has given them a free pass? There has been plenty of criticism.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Elvis, come on mate!
You know exactly what he is getting at. Of course they are going to get criticism that comes with united. The criticism they are getting however is nowhere near what the Qataris would’ve got. For starters, they would’ve been an uproar coming from Neville and sky. The women’s team front where do you start. Qatar came over and said something to the tune of, “ we are not going to concentrate on the women until we get the men sorted.” You know damn well they would be slaughtered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's simple business. You sort out the branch of the business that is most lucrative first. I'd be really worried if they were doing it the other way around.
And I don't really see the comparison that you've drawn between a business decision and humam rights.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Both of you make good points.
sS is right that the Qataris would not have it as easy in the press regarding that business decision as INEOS are. Though the difference would have been the Qataris would be owning United outright rather than a small part of it and not be struggling with funds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would agree that the press probably wouldn't have given the Qataris such an easy ride. But then, the tabloids will post whatever gets them the most clicks.
However, point 5 of the OP was aimed at posters on this forum, not the press. And it doesn't take much thought to realise that INEOS are correct to focus their efforts in getting the men's side back on track first. That is where the money is (or isn't). The fact that the women's team are doing better than the men's team at the moment should also be considered.
