I mean Gray is playing European competition tonight, you have to recognise there are levels.
Rodon was a good defender, just not elite and lacked pace.
Gray is very tidy on the ball, superb feet and incredible composure for an 18 year old. I don’t think he will be a superstar but I would be comfortable in saying he will be a premier league stalwart for years to come. He gives off serious Gareth Barry, Jordan Henderson type vibes - just a reliable steady Eddie who can play multiple positions fairly well. He is putting some of his senior colleagues to shame.

He's far to young to say he won't be a super star, usually super stars start of the way he has, so, no reason why he shouldn't/couldn't make the mark!..
He gets the right coaching than he's more chance than most!..
Our lot said Geldhart was a future superstar, another Rooney they said. Gray as someone said, Jordan Henderson, Gareth Barry level is a good shout. We got a good deal for him. Bogle is better at RB and Tanaka is the better centre mid currently, so we've not missed him

I think you provide a fair assessment of Archie. He'll be a good solid prem league player although whether at CB or midfield as he matures i really couldn't call.
His sale, while disappointing on some levels, enabled the greater squad/team rebuild so maybe inevitable.

However I believe Matty is referring to the level of player in the Rangers team now, as in who Archie had up against him. Scots Prem is likely worse than the Champ in terms of squads, I'd imagine that's a fair statement.

Agreed. I love the guy but Spurs paid a hell of a lot for him.

Maybe? Sure SPFL lacks depth but that means the pressure on those at the top to win week after week is immense and not for everyone. Rangers being above Spurs, Sociedad, Roma, Ajax and more in the table suggests a reasonable level.

Personally I think a bit of tartan exuberance would add some colour to the grey monotony of the premiership season. I’d happily swap rangers and Celtic in for Brighton, or Bournemouth or Man United… any such tinpot no hopers really
