This looks dumb on Ange, after his words on Romero.
Is this self sabotage??!
Has the geeza lost it, and sadly it's time to call it a day?
How can this be good for overall morale, Werner confidence will now be gone, because I don't think he has the ability to come back from this.
If we end up signing him permanently at the end of the season, that's beyond a joke and Levy & co are truly trolling the fans.

Interesting from Ange. When i saw the interview on insta I thought it was one of those modified clips, but it was real
It goes 1 of 2 ways - Werner responds like any man should and gets his shiiiit together, or Werner is super pisssed off and will not want to play under Ange again. I suspect his the former sort of character, but overall i believe Ange should have kept this in house. Tear a strip off him but no need to tell the world - Seems like the actions of a slightly desperate manager.

Werner has been poor. And last night really exemplified that.
But make no holes about it. The only really we are getting a public dressing down is because Werner is a loan player. If it was a spurs contracted player, Levy wouldn’t be too happy as it would lower his valuation. The bridges have now been burned and it makes little odds to Ange. It would take a Goliath change from Werner for him to play himself back in to contention.
It also wouldn’t surprise me if Ange only took him on loan again because he was told the money was there to sign a similar profiled player permanently in the summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think its the message it sends that worries me. Whether in loan or not he'll be friends with other members of the squad, a public dressing down will have an impact on trust from other players, especially as he criticised Romero for speaking out 24 hours earlier.
Feels a long way back for Ange from here. An awful lot of problems to solve.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seems like he hasnt really been in this sort of situation before and is not coping very well.
There was that interview when he was the Aussie coach when he had a right ding dong with some pundit criticising him. Ange will be aware of the criticism of him, he will also be aware that Werner has not been great and is a bit of a scapegoat amongst fans (rightly or wrongly) so may be he thought it would curry favour with fans to point the finger at Timo whilst also acting as a bit of an excuse.
Whatever his thought process, not a good look. Fact is we need Werner with the injuries we have. Few managers who start to dish out such public "honesty" last long.

Honestly the bloke is a cretin who shouldn't be anywhere near a serious professional football club. Oh hang on........

If you listen to the likes of Rio, Keane and Neville, they recall that the Utd dressing room was a difficult environment where the highest standards are expected and players would call others out if they did not meet these.
That's the key for me. It should be the dressing room, it should come from the players, the leaders, the mentors to demand and help ensure that individuals deliver to the best of their ability. Standards should eb high and these should not be allowed to drop.
I feel the problem we have is that often the likes Maddison Son or Romero are ones who also under perform so despite being the experienced pro and leaders, it doesnt ring so true if they are the ones balling you out about standards.
Yes the coach needs to remind players of the standards expected but this should be built into individual and into the squad, and it should be self-sustaining most times

They don’t like that these days as it means they could also be held accountable, whereas the likes of Keane probably went home and flogged himself half to death if he didn’t meet his own high standards.

Why is anyone surprised. Werner's only attribute is speed. We have a similar player in Maeda (Japanese) but he works his bollokkkx off every game and his pressing is unreal. If he could finish, he'd be some player.
Prime example of EPL clubs wasting money on sub standard players.
--------------------------------------------------
By the look of that guy on football manager, very good comparison
Werner does work hard to be fair, but those players are common place now. If that's all Spurs were looking for, they could've gone younger & better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He never even worked hard last night. He was atrocious. Ange did exactly the right thing last night and hooked him at halftime. Hopefully Werner never wears a Spurs shirt again.

Southampton could easily be another Dr Tottenham result. We have struggled against poor teams in poor form lately and to think those were the only teams we were beating at the end of last season. When you put it like that it's amazing that he's still in a job.
United might have been winnable but I'm starting to think we'll lose given our form and injuries. We just look like we've got worse since we beat them and they are maybe a little better.
Liverpool probably plays out like the Chelsea game.
Ultimately I can't see him surviving past the Liverpool game, or at best the Forest away game.

As others have said by that token why has he not mentioned our other underperforming

He never even worked hard last night. He was atrocious. Ange did exactly the right thing last night and hooked him at halftime. Hopefully Werner never wears a Spurs shirt again.

Oh come on...nobody wants that

Looking forward to "desperate Ange's" comments if we get beat on Sunday... (wouldn't shock me)
Am I right in thinking our record after a Thurs/Europa is especially woeful this season ? Cant be ar5ed to look it up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Conte was sacked after drawing away at Southampton
Nuno was sacked after losing at Home to Man United
AVB was sacked after getting pumped at home by Liverpool (despite us being well within the CL reach)
Spurs next 3 games:
Southampton away
United at home
Liverpool at home

Poch was sacked at the first sign of trouble and after some fans wrote letters to their man levy

Fully support Ange calling out Werner. Not sure why son, Johnson, bissouma, bentancur, udogie, and porro escaped the same fate

Why does he deserve to be rewarded like that after such a poor performance?

Ange is right of course but foolish to vent it in public. Should have just done it behind closed doors.Mugged himself right off.
As others have said by that token why has he not mentioned our other underperforming
senior pros.....to pick two as examples,,,Madders and Sonny. Love Sonny but he has been shat and on a downward trajectory for long time now. Madders is just plain struggling to find top form.

He has to go if we can’t beat Southampton. Even his number one fan Luka won’t be able to justify that one. Lose to Southampton - I wouldn’t even let him on the bus home

I would expect a poor performance from us even if we were to win, which wouldn't be much better. Like one of those games where we concede lots of chances but are able to put away ours compared to theirs.
And I don't wanna see any Ange disciple call us out if we do win that one, like we were wrong the whole time ffs!
