Load of nonsense (if what you are trying to say is true)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Knew ol’ Gassy McPumpy wouldn’t like it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not at all you called it a sham?? That’s like the exact opposite
I get annoyed when I realise things I thought were good turn out to be not so on further reflection...and panic sets in
Ie a lot of the renewable stuff still seems to rely heavily on existing fossil fuel tech to function/back up.
Admittedly I need to watch the rest of it anyway I’ve well overstated probably but was disappointed in what I saw but that’s my own lack of education on the subject
Ooh a wind turbine! Everything’s gonna be fine!
Ignorance basically
I mean wind is really quite good now and it’s improvements to where it was at 5 years ago is considerable.
Hydro as always is perfect as is nuclear.
The whole point of the energy transition isn’t to go ‘clean’ it is to reduce emissions. That can be done through LNG (cleaner), nuclear, wind, solar, geothermal, CCS/CCUS, and a reduction in coal.
Ironically (I think I am getting the right plant). Drax uses ‘sustainable resources’ basically trees, that burn off outrageous amounts of CO2 but cos they get so much money cos it’s yayyy green energy it shows how illogical the whole thing is.
Everyone also hates the likes of BP but they are leading the way in terms of renewables in this country but they have to pay for these new technologies with the baseline money they get through Oil and Gas
That’s the bit that annoys me
Why should any of those companies be entrusted with what is essentially the survival of everything when they have done such damage already?
The practicality and experience in such fields is obviously a reason but it just feels wrong that they get to play God at a snails pace.
We won’t make it in time.
I know it’s naive pie in the sky etc but so is expecting the guy who poisoned the well to clean it up (whilst he carries on poisoning every other well he can find in the meantime)
His hands are covered in shiiiit
Well did they know they had done all the damage at the time though?
Also I think people don’t realise how much money it costs to take oil out the ground. Had the government effectively invested/subsidised in CCS two decades ago it would all be more rosey
Who is the guy who poisoned the well?
Well obvs it’s all about the money
I wonder if the oil was in the fackin ground for a reason rather than how much it ‘costs’ to scrump it and sell it.

Greedy Derrick
Cheery stuff...
What you up to today?
Bbq maybe and that’s about it.
Son said his first word yesterday, like me he is a massive Toure 13/14 fan and he said ‘Yaya’
I watched the Planet of the Humans documentary. Till the end
There's a lot of anti-establishment sentiment which I would generally get behind, but there's no solution put forward. That irritates me as anyone can throw stones. If we accept things are facked how about helping out? We know BP are caants. We know that batteries are pretty nasty to make but we need them anyway. There's nothing new here but complaining.
The one part I really agreed with was the idea that humans are suffering multiple effects of overpopulation, climate change being just one of them. While it briefly touches on population control there's nothing constructive to hold onto. It's all just scary music and a bunch of vaguely convincing experts(?) talking to camera.
I'd say it's worth a watch to gain a different perspective on the discussion, but it's not going to change the world. Pretty much everything in there is a part of the discussion already.

Nice one

Morning, it’s true that over population compounds the problems within such a system.
Talking of solutions, I found the Zeitgeist documentaries a bit more positive than this one.
Re plans just went to shops and did a big walk for some exercise
Been trying to learn some covers and been finally learning how to play the guitar properly
Other than that, chilling and FaceTime eldest later.

I think what really triggers me is the whole 'the Earth will be fine' argument as if billions of people don't matter. Shut down industrial agriculture.. as if feeding people doesn't matter. The reality is we'll have to destroy the majority of nature to survive as a species. That might be chit but there is no magic alternative. Short of killing everyone and making the remainder live in caves.
I've put off the shopping run too long. Made banana bread so I didn't have to go. Today is the day.
something’s got to give, there isn’t a magic wand to avoid a mass extinction yet...
Bread sounds good . best of luck out there. 😷
Went Asda today, it was fine
