You and Blarmy meeting up then bales?
Prolly not soon. I've not heard from him in a while I guess he's busy.
Football chat and podcast breakdown time
I think the 523 and 532 havent really looked that different from eachother the past few weeks and people who think we have played better in one over the other are just cementing their confirmation bias.
Lenglet hasnt really done anything for us, he has been ok but hasnt done anything great or anything bad for us just been very steady (not bad really).
ExtraInch is obsessed with the new potential player over the 7/10 steady eady. Gil better in the 523 than Richarlsion (WHAT!?), Spence definitely better than Royal etc etc

Playing badly no matter what formation
We haven't really seen 352 enough to say have we? I think it's reasonable to suggest we'd be better in some games like that. Against Everton, for example, we looked a lot better as soon as we switched
Not gonna lie it does worry me that you seem to be able to keep grinding out these wins though
Although I caught the second half of the Everton game and thought you looked good. I was still a bit dusty from the night before though

Started it vs Brighton and looked better in the 523 vs Frankfurt. Similarly I didn’t think we were any better or worse either half vs Everton I just think the types of chances we created was different

We’ve not really ground out games though, it’s not pretty football but we’ve had the better of the chances in each of our wins. None of our wins were as jammy as you vs Leeds for example
I guess grinding out wins perhaps isn't the best term, but often when I see you it looks like you concede control of the play (in the traditional sense) and I would have thought that when you take that chance statistically you're gonna get bitten by it eventually, but it doesn't seem to be happening that much. I understand you can control games without the ball too, but it's a risky game and I would have thought it would have backfired more than it has.
Doubly impressive as Romero is the only one of your defenders I rate and Lloris has a clanger in him.
Yeah it’s mainly as Conte likes us to create chances by countering meaning we concede the ball when at 0-0.
We tend to press more and look for possession when winning so it does mean we don’t play the most typical tactical game. We concede a lot of shots too but not really any proper chances, it does mean we get bit by worldies like Partey or Maddison - but I guess that’s a risk that’s worth taking
Yeah it's a pretty interesting system in terms of how it works, even if it's not the most interesting to watch.
Definitely not the most interesting to watch
I agree with TBag
I do find the games interesting. There's a lot going on. Sure it's not exciting, but even if we had a fashionably manager like Potter I don't think we could play like that and still get results with our backline. Do we want Dier defending from the halfway line?
Potter would have Gil playing CB or something
