From me, a very happy christmas from a drunk edin.
Taken from an article about the book In “Does Your Rabbi Know You’re Here?: The Story of English Football’s Forgotten Tribe,” Anthony Clavane narrates a widely forgotten story: the history of Jewish involvement in British soccer.
Despite its large Jewish fan base, the Tottenham Hotspur soccer club raised a swastika above its home field for a 1935 game against Germany

At that game, a “friendly” contest between England and Na zi Germany in December, 1935, Tottenham officials raised a swastika above the field before kickoff, leaving it in place for the duration of the game.
doodoos, wtf are you doing ?
Apparently we raised a Swastika flag during an England vs Germany game and kept it up during the entire game in 1935, it's in the book Does Your Rabbi Know You’re Here?: The Story of English Football’s Forgotten Tribe.
maybe, but it was probably germany's national flag wasnt it ?
btw, the swaztika isnt exclusive to the nasi party. it is used around the world in various different ways, including by the hundu religion. it is only when used by the nasi party that it has racial implications, and it probably would not have had those implications in 1935.
I bet noone else woke 3 turtles up today, or watched a blue crab fight.

yes, i am right. that comment is just very ignorant.
the national flag of germany contained a swaztika from 1933. it was not the nasi flag, it was the german flag. it is likely that tottenham hotspur football club did not have any say in the selection of the flag of the german nation. furthermore, neither the swaztika, nor the german nation was associatied was associated with the persecution of jews in 1935. great britain, america, and just about every other country attended the olympic games in berlin in 1936, where no doubt there were also a few german flags flying
the suggestion in the article then that the decision by the club to fly a flag which contained a swastika, was somehow an offence to judaism, is complete and utter twaddle.
