If we have to finish 14th or 15th then so be it. He's not the reason why we are where we are as a club. The owners, the new operators and the previous manager need locking up for spending a billion quid on this squad. It's probably worth £150m tops.
I bet he wishes he'd have stayed in Portugal now until the end of the season and called their bluff. He's in a lose lose situation here until he can start signing his own players.
INEOS have lost me already. Too many mistakes in 11 months for there to be any trust there at all. They are just not going to turn this club around.

I can't accept mistakes on that magnitude. They have tossed this season into the fire by continuing with a lame duck manager. They showed no leadership or bottle whatsoever.
Now poor Amorim has an absolute mountain to climb. He's going to have to drag these players off the floor of a bottom half finish for next season and it's not really his fault.

Team of midgets who will get dominated in the air at every single set piece.
Maguire and Casemiro for me have to play for me.
People celebrated when Mctominay left in the summer but I think people didn't quite understand just how important he was in our own box defending set pieces. He used to head loads clear for us as well pick up the odd goal at the other end too. Limited footballer obviously but he had his uses.

How many of those mistakes has affected our performance on the pitch though? Only the Ten Hag sacking.
You have to remember they didn't just come in and make decisions. There was an initial period where they carried out a full audit of the club as they should, there were structural changes which took time including key positions in the club's heirarchy. All of these were a contributing factor to that one mistake. And don't get me wrong it was a mistake, but given the timescales I think they shouldn't be written off because of it so soon.

Pretty much what I said.
This is the worst United team I have ever known by far. We aren't particularly good at anything and what's worse is we are physically second best most games too.
Genuinely might finish the season with less than 50pts. 47-48pts is looking about right for this squad.

And if that came, I am pretty certain that there arent many players in our squad who have the bolux to scrap it out and get points on the board, by hook or by crook.

I know we'd all like us to win every game but if we are taking silver linings is that we've not had "papering over the cracks" wins which may have given a false impression. If the club fully backs Amorim I do trust his management will get us back up there.

I can't see us approaching anywhere near the bottom three. There's easily 6 teams worse than us (it's probably the main thing keeping us from falling below 13th tbf ).
We're 10 points off bottom three and 9 points off top four. No chance of achieving either.

Im concerned about results. You have to keep the points on the board ticking over.
As a player, (and a supporter) I can tell you that pretendiing that things will be ok and results dont matter but because there is always some team you regard as worse that you (who those teams are in the PL Im not too sure) it wont happen, and its nonesence. It creeps up on you very quickly and before you know it you start playing games that can make a 6 point difference (when most teams in the bottom half are separated by few points). If you dont have the collective mindset in the changing room to deal with that then you are facked. Its ever decerasing circles that drags you in.

I'm not suggesting the players not caring about the result. Of course I want the team going out there to win. So does Amorim. I'm speaking as a fan considering where we are in terms of the squad and giving Amorim the time and space to turn the club around. I'd love them to win every game. My point is that if they lose games they're expected to win, but I can see progress in terms of style of play, partnerships being developed, patterns of play and a clear direction in terms of a footballing identity then I'll be content for this season. Anything else will be a bonus.
Btw I picked out our defensive performance earlier as a priority. Indirectly that is a reflection of the result today but more importantly for me it's about progress in terms of performance.

posted 2 weeks, 4 days ago
We have a lack of quality throughout the team but in particular in the wing back areas (we don't really have any wing backs). Amorim could switch his system to a back four to at least compensate for this and have players in more comfortable positions, but I think he needs to stick to his principles and preferred team shape and play through the pain until we can properly upgrade in key positions.
We urgently need a LWB, and we also need a RWB, LF, CF and CM player.

One looks at the likes of Dalot, Onana, malacia and zirkzee is enough evidence to know they fluked their way into being paid to kick a bag of air around, or catch a bag of air in Onana's case, or let a bag of air go past you actually, to be more accurate
