Mainoo Becoming An Issue?

So from getting carried away we've now gone to him being useless.

Any chance of a more balanced approach. Like say, he's a talented 19 year old who came into the first team and held his own, showing enough promise to hopefully become a very good midfielder for us with the potential of a long term future at the club if he's developed properly.

He can hardly run though… if he’s like this at 19 it might be better to get rid of him.

Maybe not right away, hence a loan move we can monitor, but we may need to look beyond the likes of Mainoo to compete again.

Culer, as you are close to the United board, can you confirm or deny that there will be more redundancies in the next days as a consequence of today's result?

I haven’t had any information mate. I did hear from a contact last week though that Amorim wants Kulusevski.

To quote directly: ‘Amorim is obsessed with Kulusevski and has told INEOS to do all it takes to get him’

Time will tell if we can sign him I guess.

Why is it an unacceptable result?

In the seasons where Utd were in 5th place and they won 3-0 away to bottom half sides like Wolves or Palace, would you have said those were unacceptable results for Wolves and Palace?

Of course not, so stop thinking you're better than you currently are.

We’re Man United. Make no mistake about it, we indeed ARE the biggest club in world football.

Culer, as a suggestion. I think you should do a Q&A to show us the insights of what goes on within that club for all Manchester United fans worldwide.

It could be a perma-article like the argumentative thread and the ever popular "Are you concerned" article.

Tell that to our midfield.

The current role in the team doesn’t suit Mainoo he has become a nothing player, he is best higher up field on the edge of the opposition box, had zero to offer today but obviously not on his own in this respect.

I don't see any issue with his running tbh. Or the things you've listed in the OP.

He is where he should be at this moment in time. We should be doing everything to help him realise his full potential. Same with Garnacho.

If we don't, and instead entertain the idea of letting either of them go, I am sure other top clubs will.

Btw consider just how many of our promising young players we've let go over the past 5/6 yrs. We'll have none left. Largely down to the club/managers failing them than them failing the club.

He’ll be fine, just needs to find his niche in the line up. Really wish the media and others had been a bit more reserved about the outlandish hype they put on the guy last season, it can’t have helped.

Mainoo has zero athleticism or pace. Watch him when he has to get back… he is slower than Maguire.

In modern football it’s a huge issue… he can’t cover ground well enough.

From an athletic perspective, he's lacking

This
He's 19 years old I think but at times he moves around like a 39 year-old on the pitch ffs

It may be best to loan him out. Let him get more games, develop better athleticism, defensive positioning and tactical awareness.

Stick prime Carrick in this team and listen to everyone slating him over his athleticism.

Carrick was never that good in my opinion. Joined at a time when Ronaldo and Rooney fulfilled their potential and started blowing teams away… we’d have been fine without him.

You don't need athleticism when your positioning is world class, which his was.

Yeah he was slow as fack, doesn't matter if you read the game well

honestly, its madness to judge anyone too harshly in utds mf over the last few years. Certainly a kid as young as Mainoo.

Exactly and imagine if he was written off having suffered relegation when he was 19. Who knew eh.

We're at a point when all our youth, many who'vr shown huge potential, are being carted out the club.

Not because they came into the first team not being good enough, but because they've come into a poir squad, poor role models, poor ethos, a badly run club, and little development. Fan impatience doesn't help either.
