Your team needs to stop this 12 goals celebrations rolled into one that takes about 3 minutes, just for an equaliser. What would send a signal is to get the ball back to restart as soon as possible to get the winner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We haven't scored at Klanfield since 2018. We wanted to savour the feeling a bit today with our two deserved goals. 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
fair enough. I would have thought trying to beat them at their own patch would be more of a scalp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Should have won it at the end anyway. Massive chance for slab.

City's record isn't particularly good there is it? It's a lot worse than ours actually. 1 win in like 30 attempts isn't it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure why we are being dragged into this. You had the opportunity to do the unthinkable at this juncture.

I wonder how much difference having a full week training has helped?

What I absolutely loved today was our passing, that likely comes from the training ground and having a better underrating of the formation.

Early days, but hopefully a slightly easier post Xmas schedule will really see the players get onboard with the tactics.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool's press was useless today in the final third where we have so much joy as you always had extra players in your defensive third. This made passing easy. Against teams that sit back this won't be the case. Things will surely get better with more time but I just don't see this system putting you up there challenging. We'll soon find out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure I buy that… poor pressing or not, or one touch passing was often great, especially in midfield where you had plenty of players … we were bypassing you with ease
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah not having that. Mac Allister and Gravenberch broke up heaps of your attacks in midfield and got onto lose passes. Your passing in your defensive third was much better than previous games and you found space down the sides when doubling up but certainly not in midfield and definitely not bypassing with ease.

Really enjoyed it, yeah. Liverpool were on top for long periods, as you'd expect. But after the first 15 minutes or so, United always showed some spark, resilience and threat when we were on the ball.

It does make it frustrating to see how much we've struggled in other games and at times just looked plain lazy when defending aerial balls. But at the same time, it was still nice to see and maybe just knowing that we were likely to be a back 5, rather than a hybrid 3 and 5 helped the players a bit too in terms of being comfortable in knowing their roles.

Hopefully this has laid down a marker for things to come but obviously it will still be topsy turvy for a while yet, given how unsuitable the personnel is for this (or any!!!) manager. Enjoyable game though, always nice to be pleasantly surprised!

Your right Toor but it's rare for one team to dominate all-over the pitch in the PL.

Tbh mate I think that's your desperation to sneak back into a title race you don't deserve talking more than actually worrying about our lack of belief in getting a winner.

For where we are as a team right now it was a very good performance and result and as I said we still nearly won it at the end anyway even if we did over celebrate.

It's not that unthinkable for us either. We have the better head to head with Liverpool. The only club in England who does. 👍

there's no way we would have been back in the title race. 5 in a row would be stupid.

I was morally preparing for a despondent Sunday evening but really enjoyed the game. At 0-0 I was thinking "we'll probably lose in the end and we won't maintain the performance levels in the second half but at least we've seen we can play competitive football against a really good side with *this* group of players." At 0-1 I was thinking "we'll probably lose but this is fantastic." At 2-1 I was thinking "oh well, it's been a really encouraging performance." In the end it felt like we could have got more than a draw from the game. The balance of chances maybe slightly favoured us (factoring in the Hojlund and Maguire misses) but it could have easily gone either way. What I really liked was the fact that we kept our heads out of possession, sometimes worked the ball forward quite effectively, created a number of good shooting opportunities from open play, and in particular seeing this Liverpool side, which has been imperious for most of the season, looking really panicky at the back. That's supposed to be us.

There's a long way to go still. We need quite a bit of squad turnover to suit Amorim's needs, and I'm sure we'll have worse performances in the coming weeks. There will be teams that are less enterprising against us than Liverpool were, who will consequently be harder to break down. But that was a high level of performance, and it was clear from Amorim's interview that he intends to use that as the springboard to impose an aggressive insistence that this is the new baseline.

Final thought: it's very encouraging to see more and more sniping from opposition fans. Stuff along the lines of the tired old 'that was your cup final' rather than outright mockery reflects the fact that we're moving in the right direction.

I think the celebrations for the opener went on while, but for Amad's equaliser things were briefer and more muted?
