Hopefully nothing in this, but if Mainoo is serious about leaving and doesn't want to be here, and Chelsea are willing to pay a hefty fee (he still had 2 years on his deal) then so be it.

I wouldn't worry about it. He's under contract for a good few yesrs as yet.

His current 20 grand a week is definitely on the low side given he's a first team regular already. I also think giving a 19 year old 200 grand a week is daft too because when he's 25 he's going to want 300+.

A compromise will be reached where he gets a hike and they show him the pathway to 200 grand over the coming years.

I think my main concern is whether he actually wants to be at the club, we don't need players who don't want to be there. I think Amorim seems to be in line with that thought process so hopefully it's all rumours.

I'd like to see us pay good bonuses to players based on achievements and performances, with lesser base salaries.

If it was up to me I’d make him train with the U23 side until he’s gone.
