Ask a Watford who filled the whole Vicarage end.
No doubting they took a large support, but 5,000? Will need to look it up
Morning all.
The way to measure the "Plastic" support a club has is by its success.
The more you win, the more plastics or pot hunters as we used to call them, you attract, ergo we have more plastics than Tottenham because of late we are completely out of sight.
These followers from abroad only follow whoever wins stuff now, they couldn't care a jot what clubs won in the 60's 70's 80's or even the 90's to a much lesser extent, they want to be associated with a club who wins things.
Personally, I hate it, but its the way of things I guess

Barcelona shirts have become very common in England, they wern't very common a few years ago but ever since they became well....insanely good, they are everywhere, easily alot more common then seeing a Real Madrid shirt.
we've also attracted fans from the marquee signings we've made. Players like Torres, Drogba, Shevchenko and i think Ballack to an extent brought in fans by themselves just because of there name. This has resulted in more people following chelsea
The takeover By Roman Abramovich did launch us onto the big stage, and gave us the wherewithall to buy some of the best players on the planet, as many others want to remind us. I know he saved our club from potential disaster (Although there were very strong rumours in the city at the time that a certai Bernie Ecklestone was in the process of launching a bid), but I am not going to appologise for it, I am thankfull, not sorry.
The idea of people who live in London claiming to support Barca is ludicrous, as is the idea of someone living in China supporting Chelsea, or someone in Surrey claiming to support United

And the people in Tottenham to support Arsenal..
Nothing wrong with supporting a team thats not local to you in the modern game tbh. If that was the case then the big teams will not be able to generate this income and pay the players wages (unless you have a suger daddy) and most certainly would not be able to fill in their huge stadiums week in week out.
Fact is big clubs need these fans. Football is a global sport now, gone are the days where you just go to see your local team play with local lads. Why do you think clubs go tour in Asia, North America etc...to expand their brand and win more fans. Football clubs are brands now and the fans are customers, whether your local or not doesn't mean squat to most big clubs...its all about the money.
sandsend talks some sense.
^your comment doesn't make sense..
@chelsea & arsenal fans,
do you guys have any supporters clubs abroad?
That is the stupidest question i ever heard..
That's your delusion.
I said 'smileys' not smiley.
all i see is grey filtered bars ,
it was a serious question , so if someone else could answer my question it would help.
haha same. mich is not important enough to read though.

espolones nunca coincidirá con el Chelsea y estará siempre en nuestra sombra

Come to arsenal board we can discuss..

I know its the way of things today, as I said, I just dont like it.
When I first started going to football, adult entrance was the same price as a pint of beer, the price of a pint today is anywhere between £2 and £5 depending on where you live, entrance to a game is at least 10 times that.
In essence, football has gone from being a working class game, to a way for rich people to get more money from working class/poorer people, due to their loyalties
Strange really eh
Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa. I can at least speak from an African standpoint. As most have said, premier league viewing came just about the time roman came in. I started watching it well soon after the giggs fa cup wonder goal against Arsenal so i'm definitely one of the older premier league fans in the country. We started watching the champion's league earlier though. I can say that currently most fans support arsenal, chelsea and united with a much less number supporting city. Spurs are probably at most a few hundred in the whole country. Many(not a majority) of these fans also have a second team in europe like milan or barca or madrid. Because of kanu, arsenal got a lot of fans in Nigeria and arsenal fans are the most loyal ones. They've stuck by their team through the thin of the past 6 years and are unlikely to ever leave. Chelsea and United have more fans than Arsenal and probably even more loyal ones too but they also have a greater number of jumpers. These jumpers are likely to be Barca or City fans in the near future. What i'm trying to say is that Spurs are not even in the picture here in Africa. They are known as a good team but not followed.
5,000 to an away trip aross the other side of London... hardly impressive.
Spurs and Arsenal take that to Fulham every season and even then its members with mega points only!
We took 15,000 to Milan.... 10,000 fans didnt even had a ticket!
Care to tell us about how many you took to Greece?
i guess that answers my question .
unless <mr filtered> is trying to tell me?
RELATIVELY unknown... there's really nothing to discuss here, consider how relative can 'relatively' be...
