Ethio I am doing nothing of the sort. Yes I am helping promote the site and am informing users who might complain about the site being slow or not having all features as I was one of the first on here and spoke to ja606guy so know what they are doing.

Plus just felt like everyone should know the situ on the smilies as they will effect everyone.

at the moment, according to the front page, the site is being run on a private server, probably using residential broadband. They are moving it onto a dedicated server, utilising far more open bandwidth, at which time the site will speed up a lot.

And will probably cost an arm and a leg!

i'm not one of the one's promoting ja606 on other sites but given your average users online hots about the 150 mark and the not606 site is averaging around 490, i'd say you need all the help you can get to get this to overtake. I appreciate that both this site and theirs take a lot of time and effort to get up and running but surely it makes sense to get the word out there that this site exists. At that point if they prefer not606 then so be it. It's a dog eat dog situation. If this site is better, which i think it will be, then as long as members are aware of it, they'll choose this site over the others.

We're already supposed to be on a professionally hosted virtual server, which has down stream bandwidth of 100Mb/s and 8 CPU cores, but we are falling foul of a memory restriction that we have been constantly kicking our providers about.

It takes about 10 minutes to post an article, and about 30 seconds to actually load a page on JA606. i wonder what it would be like with X amount of people on it, If its this slow with a minority of people, then its going to be alot slower with alot more.

My internets fine.. A few people had said its slow.

Not too fussed about smilies, can do without those. But others seem to miss them ...

On the competition front - why should it be dog eat dog as someone suggested ? I think the different sites will attract different sorts of people. This one is more sensible (so far anyway) and goundrules look good. And the anti-wum campagin can only be good.

Can't wait till things settle down and proper footie talk commences.

Seriously, the site loads a bit slow, but otherwise it works fine for me. I did have several stress related episodes whilst trying to register but that, as they say, is history.
