Manchester United v Liverpool isn't even a derby for starters, it doesn't get the most views and besides there being no evidence of it being the biggest and best game
-----

evidence ? It's subjective and Ferguson believes it's the biggest.

You've took the last game as an example to tarnish the rivalry - that's desperate.

I don't think you'll find people around the world flocking to watch Arsenal v spurs - no offence

How dare he claim that Liverpool-Manchester United is the biggest game on the planet?
------------------------------------------
clearly you don't understand mindgames.

united have city this coming weekend, so fergie tried to wind them up a little by saying liverpool was the bigger game.

Considering you think watching paint dry is more fun than watching a game of football (any game), I have no idea why you bothered writing about it.

No point discussing anything regarding the rest of your post, cause it's clear as day that you have more knowledge watching paint dry than watching football.

Its the biggest game certainly in England and its probably the most watched PL game around the world. Reason being is that its the two biggest supported PL clubs in the world and the two most successful.

Two statements from your post that make you look a total idiot

1. Manchester United v Liverpool isn't even a derby for starters

2. It is not in the same league as the el classico

I'd go look at a map of Spain if I was you

2. It is not in the same league as the el classico

....true, its not, they're in La Liga and we're in the Premier League.

What is it with these childish Arsenal fans, i know there must be some grown up ones but so many on here just talk total crap everyday.

Macca

How is Manchester United-Liverpool a derby?? you're a good 20miles+ apart

And I meant league as in class.

posted on 19/10/11

i remember Bolton saying they were united derby rivals, so its nothing new, insulting City by not mentioning them..

and with all this pre derby talk by fergie......
maybe the cockney reds agree with fergie about Liverpool being a big " derby",
but the local reds do not..

Coming from the guy who thinks Wilshere is better than Silva, brilliant.

i've made this point myself before

Although Liverpool is a NW derby, in truth its a rivalry more than a Derby. Manc and Scousers. Biggest 2 clubs in UK etc

United's Derby is City

Liverpool's derby is Everton

We don't say a derby up here when it comes to Liverpool United games

Someone needs to study the water in North London. There's something seriously wrong with it

I think some people need a Geography lesson.

Derby day is on Sunday.

Barca's derby is vs Espanyol.

RM's derby is vs Athletico.

When the two most successful clubs in English football come together it has to be a huge game, Maybe Arsenal should try become as successful!!!

it use to be called the east lancs derby, named after the local road between us, the A57, but "foreigners" seem to have forgotten about that 36 mile stretch of road between Manchester and Liverpool.

we have plenty of North West derbies, and south Lancashire derbies, and local derbies..but there is only ONE Derby in Manchester..
possibly our number 150th odd league derby, i need to check that figure...as cup games seem to be added on without thought to the separate competitions

Good point well made.

Uniteds match with Liverpool isn't a derby but is treated in the same way, bragging rights for fans etc. This is down to the history between the clubs and their fight to be the dominant force in English football league history.
Same goes for the Barca and Madrid rivallry.

As I said, difference is, Manchester United-Liverpool isn't in the same class entertainment wise, views and ferocity of the game as El Classico and North London derby.

posted on 19/10/11

Liverpool and United have had a stranglehold on the english game for 40 years - until someone can wrestle that away from them then nobody will get close.

Their league and european cup hauls is head and shoulders above anything in this country has to offer - certainly the London clubs lol

Madrid and Barcelona isn't a 'derby', by definition.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_derby

Its a grudge match based on the historical social economic and political relationships (between (South) Catalonia and Spain).

Much like United vs Liverpool is.

Point out where I stated the el classico is a derby?

The term derby is thrown around in this country and signifies the big games, and the biggest derby in this country is Arsenal-Tottenham. FACT!

Son, I know you have severe bed wetting problems, but you need to listen to SAF on this one.

After all, he does know more about football than you, doesn't he. So does my cat.

North London derby is only entertaining now as neither team can defend worth a damn and both sides have calamity keepers. Used to be dull
