38, it's just nice to know that irrespective of the bullish£ that appears in tabloids, Hoyle knows that we cannot sell players when the bigger picture is trying to secure promotion. I listened to him the other night on the radio and he isn't the best when speaking but you've gotta hand it to the guy. He firmly believes that how the club is run at the moment is the best way forward. He isn't in it for any money (we all know you don't make money from league 1 football) and does not have a problem losing money. Genuinely good guy.
Jacko, work with a Burnley fan. He ain't surprised at all at the defensive side of PNE. Carlilse, absolute liability

Carlise to get a result at Charlton today...I reckon a draw 2-2.
orient to beat Sheff Utd 3-1
Notts Co to lose to brentford 1-2
Sheff Wed and Colchester 0-0.

this could be the end of our run Preston are no mugs i tnink they will be the best team we've played all season. so on to the score, town to win 3.1 or Preston to win 3.0 or mybe a 2.2 draw. am never wrong me.

talk about hedging your bets !!
It all depends (as usual) if Town play to our full potential, if we do..we'll win because we have the best 'team' in this league. If we don't however, anything can happen....as you have observed..

Great result against a promotion rival, just a shame some other results didnt go our way but we can only win our games and not worry about anyone else.

I think we should be ok with the next few games coming up but the Notts County and Charlton games will be very tough and could be very important in the final outcome.

they had hulme..
we got caught overplaying in our own half(do footballers ever learn??)
in truth 6-3 would have been about right and i wont complain about that score every week..
rhodes with 3 smartly taken goals and obvious motm, with arfield very close behind, again..
all the good stuff in their half involved arfield..he has found his niche..
suprised that robinson didnt come on for miller, who was very tired..
johnson did his job afain, good pros do just that..
I thought some of our one touch play was very good and usually resulted in us making something happen..
pne were very physical but hulme appears to be absoulutely vital to them if they want to play any football..
happy with the performance overall, dissapointed in the daft goal we gave them(the tall black striker that scored was outrun on a few occasions by both clarke and kaye!!!) cant work out how he got six yards out with nobody with him??
the back 4 have just got to stop overplaying and we will be fine.. 0-0 or 3-0 up makes no difference, play the ball forward as soon as you can and play football in their half, not ours..
ref made some strange bookings given he warned their number 15, 3 times for late challenges, shirt pulling and then dissent?????
onwards and upwards..we won 3-1 but the system and the playing staff still look better away from home.. hopefully see that again on tuesday..

Ian Bennett today was fantastic. A great save in first half when he managed to scoop it out, ball was almost in. 2nd half top save from Daly's free kick. Was most certainly going in, only for Bennett seem to fly across his line for the save.
Best performance i've seen at home this season.

Town Fan..
agreed, but those saves were down to defending far too deep and the free kick was given away by a very tired miller, who should have gone off for robinson at 3-0 up..
they made 3 subs because they were 3-0 down , we should make subs because we are 3-0 up..just a thought..
agreed some of the quick one touch and move stuff was very good today.. the very early goal was also a god send..

these boards are always so quiet when we play well and get a good win....
so i'm going to start something ....Warning might be some controversial comments ahead ......and this is just my opinion and any counter opinion will be debated like an adult without the throwing around of school yard insults

this season from what i can tell , and bare in my i only have media sources and other peoples opinons to base my own opinion on

but there seems to be , in my opinon, some key differences from this season to last season

In no particular order

LC seems to have found a "first Team" and a system the utilizes those players better, especially going forward, whether this is by design or accident is debatable , my opinion is its a little of both

a couple of key players appear to have lost a stone each making them sharper players

the fullback on one side seems far more interested than the last one and the fullback on the other side seems fitter and able to keep up with the game better over 95 minute than the last one

our central midfiels players do the simple things better and when the have the ball they are looking for the pass and dont just hoof it upfield

our wide players on BOTH sides of the field seem far more able and/or inclined to put more and better crosses into the box, rather than just cutting inside and shooting therefore feeding our strikers better and we are less reliant on set pieces.

the more positive play is rubbing off on the fans and there is a better atmosphere at games.

thats the way I am interpreting thing anyway.

they (Preston) were the best side to play us this season .and we won easy .i can't see us losing ever again.

Great result and performance today, just struggling to get the face paint off my little lads face! Don't know what the hell they used but he now looks like a drag act!

Btw they(Preston) had a decent following, its nice to see that end nearly full

Hey 38. Spot on with the defending too deep.
Last ditch defending is always risky. Defending on the 18 yard line it can all go wrong very quickly.

according to the HTFC twitter feed PNE had a little over 2600 at town today

Thought Preston played a lot of long ball in 1st half, which caused us a few probs on the breakaways, i always thought they played it on the floor, so that must have been Phil browns game plan..didn't work but we got the gift of a goal, and Benno saved 2 pearlers..

When Preston started to attack down our left flank they had a load of success, including the goal...but they were 3-0 down by then. In reality they could have had 2 or 3, but like wise, if we'd taken our chances we could have had 6 or 7.
Good to win in front of 16,800 crowd, more than I exdpected, although 2,800 from PNE.
Roll on tuesday, lets hope we don't slack off just cos its Scunny.

Just read their own fans forum, most said they played and created more chances today than they had done in their last two games. They also said town were superior in every position.

Great win today. Quite nervy at times mainly due to the big guy up front, Tsoumou. First half Kay Clarke shat themselves whenever he came within 20yrd of them. They don't seem to be able to deal awkward players who are not necessarily that good, just big. A little intimidated I think. Hume may be a decent player but he's the type of player we seem to be able to deal with and comfortably.
Arfield absolutely brilliant today and as for Rhodes, what can you say. QUALITY. Someone with coaching badges needs to resit them me thinks

see orient equalised in 96th minute, with 10 men, against sheff utd...nice one. MKD and notts co only got draws, and i suppose charlton 4-0 up after 48 minutes , against 10 men...good they didn't rattle in another 4 goals and boost their goal diff...so all in all, not bad at all. Suprised about carlise, they'd only lost one away game this season, but hey, you can't have it all..

8 points clear of 7th placed team already, just need wycombe and carlise to win on tuesday, and Town of course..

Excellent yesterday but talk of walking the league is way too early. This amazing run we are on is down to excellent organisation, the team remaining calm not panicing when we are up against it and everyone finally knowing their jobs. The Hunt/Arfield partnership on the right side is the final piece in the jigsaw for me.

However Preston showed in glimpses that there are some very good players in this league who have played higher. If the likes of Sheff Wed, Sheff Utd click they will get alot of points.

3 teams came down from the Championship, we've played 2 so far...3-0 and 3-1. and Scunny coming up on Tuesday. yes, they will have decent players because they've been up in the Championship for a few years, but we've more than matched them. It's the 'little' battlers like Rochdale Bury Oldham and Hartlepool that we struggle against...where they somehow motivate themselves just for us.

We're still not as fluent as we could be, but the team as a whole seem more co-ordinated and the work rate has improved massively...I don't think that when we lose our unbeaten run it will have any effect really because finishing in the top 2 is the main aim and we know we will lose a few games over the course of the season...

If I was to put my finger on one thing that has boosted us this season, it would have to be the resurgent Alan Lee..because not only does he torment defenders but he has created the space for Rhodes to shine. LC was right to take him off and rest him for Tuesday, he is becoming such a crucial part of our game plan.

posted on 23/10/11

its what its all about , the team, thought Lee was terrific yesterday, he took a right hammering for the team.

Don't think we will lose many, Norwich lost 5 i think & Leicester lost 4 when they were run away champions !
