This comment - albeit unintelligible in certain stages, is a perfect summation of the reason why I dislike United fans around my age, that live where I come from. South-East London.

"The fundamental reason why most people I know do not like Manchester United is not because of the club itself, it is the fans they actually dislike.

I support my local club Barnet and most people I know support Arsenal or Spurs as a first team and Barnet second, but the occasional Manchester United fan crops up. It is because when they are children they chose to support United due to when I was in primary school it was the 90s they started winning the league.

These people continue to support Manchester United and gloat over everyone because they picked them when they were 8 like they are superior for choosing Manchester United even though they have no connection to the club at all.

They are all over the country and when I went to university there were loads of them from all around the country who do not even know anything about their local team and do nothing but gloat about their team United winning the league again."

I'm not really one to talk as I wouldn't support Arsenal if they weren't good when I got interested in football (although by the time I started really getting interested they were trailing off). Wasn't even a particular reason I chose them, I just liked them. They had good players, especially Henry who was just super. United fans are just on a larger, more stupid and much more annoying scale.

The reason why I started supporting Arsenal, was that my dad was at the time. I think that it was around 1999. It annoys me like nothing else when I get United fans that have absolutely no connection to the club, ribbing me about trophies which they had absolutely no contribution to United winning.

If my Dad wasn't my Dad, I'd hate him - as a football fan. He just supports whoever is doing well. That takes the soul out of winning trophies in my opinion.
