"LIFE! By far the most profound teacher, providing an infinity of knowledge far beyond that found in any textbook found around the classroom. Life is a path that can lead to both greatness or darkness. It's a path we all take and a lesson we will never avoid. Life will teach you everything you need to know, without you knowing it. But for now.. There's English, Maths and Science." - Alvin D'Lottery.

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement, nothing can be done without hope and confidence." This here is a quote by Helen Keller. This is a very symbolic and relevant quote to the course I am applying for, primary education. Teaching is something that didn’t particularly interest me until two summers ago when I became a paid carer for a child with special needs. Seeing how rewarding it was to help improve the simple day to day tasks of this young boy and see his standard of life improve showed me just how rewarding teaching or in this case simply caring for another human could be. This quote here can be applied to teaching due to my belief that optimism and hope are two of the best skills a teacher can possess. To pass these personality traits on to a pupil will give them the tools and belief in themselves to be able to further themselves.

I don't think you need to delete the bit about caring for the child with special needs. More just re-word it, as when looking for a suitable candidate.. the words "'job at hand' did'nt really interest me' etc etc isn't something you are looking to here.

You've gotta remember they'll be people in your position who have wanted to do this most of there lives and work particularly for that opportunity. Although it's a nice story it's just put across the wrong way. Imagine if theres someone who's wanted to be a teacher for 10 years and for 5 of those years has been caring/volunterring to work with children in need. Sounds much more qualified than someone who wasn't bothered 2 years ago!

Also I don't understand why you've set that paragraph out as

Quote
Personal story
Explanation of quote.

Kinda seems like you've just dropped your personal experience into the middle of an English analysis.
