Not gonna completely re-write everything like Baaders does as he's much better than this at me, but through one read, I've quickly put a few thing I personally would change...

my belief that optimism and hope are two of the best skills a teacher can possess. - These are both really similar things. You can't be optimistic without hope. I think that quote kind of infers Optimism = Hope + Confidence.

Teaching is something that didn’t specifically interest me until two summers ago - Again, would you really want to give this opportunity to someone who wasn't 'specifically interested' a couple of years ago? Try saying something like, I've always had a deep interest in teaching, but the moment/experience that really opened my eyes to the rewards and joy of teaching etc etc

Another aspect that raised my intrigue was my interest in learning about the skills - Not sure intrigue should be used that way.. "A further aspect of the course that really grabbed my attention was learning about the skills"

This degree would enable me to enter into a career in primary education as a teacher shaping the lives of the children in my care and ensuring the learning potential of each and every pupil is met or even surpassed. - You might be picked out for the 'met or even surpassed' part.. I'm being critical here but if you had the passion you say, you'd see it as your duty to ensure ALL pupils surpass expectations. "This degree would offer the opportunity for me to pursue my passion in shaping the lives of children as a primary education teacher." Then something along the lines of treating every pupil individually to ensure there personal needs and expecatations are met everyday.

This is a very symbolic and relevant quote to the course I am applying for, primary education. This quote here can be applied to teaching due to my belief that optimism and hope are two of the best skills a teacher can possess. To pass these personality traits on to a pupil will give them the tools and belief in themselves to be able to further themselves.

Teaching is something that didn’t specifically interest me until two summers ago when I became an employed carer for a child with special needs. Seeing how rewarding it was to help improve the simple day to day tasks of this young boy and see his standard of life improve showed me just how rewarding teaching or in this case simply caring for another human could be.

The aspects of the course that gained my attention was the whole psychology behind how the child’s mind works and how things can be taught in different ways to maximise the learning potential of the child. Another aspect that raised my intrigue was my interest in learning about the skills of the teacher in meeting the diverse needs of a group of children with different interests, talents and abilities.

This degree would enable me to enter into a career in primary education as a teacher shaping the lives of the children in my care and ensuring the learning potential of each and every pupil is met or even surpassed. In addition to being a primary teacher this would allow me to progress even further into the profession and become a head teacher. This is a huge aspiration of mine as not only would this allow for the shaping of those I am in direct contact with but it would allow me to shape the learning experience for a whole generation of pupils.
