Why would MON turn down Leicester but want to join us? Obviously would be amazing but would never happen.
Karl Robinson I personally think is the best replacement out there
I don't think MON is desperate, I think he turned us down for ethical reasons (the way Sven was treated / coming back and not doing so well etc) but I think he is holding out for a Premiership Team to be honest
How do you know he has turned us down ? He hasn't spoken on the subject as far as I know.
City sarnie...
Read it on the Sack race web ..
I think the question is, 'Why would Martin O'Neil want to go back to Leicester?'. He's been there, done that and bought the T- shirt!
Why not come to Town? If Mr Hoyle is really serious about getting to the Premiership, then he'd better get his wallet out and get a man with massive experience, like O'Neil, rather than our current 'trainee'.
(Breaks into a Martin O'Neil impression)
"If I may add, I would categorically love to come to Town! That's if everyone is onboard, the fans, the chairman, the board and the cleaning staff too, never forget the cleaning staff! I have so much respect for them."
Why do people rate Karl Robinson? What has he achieved? The only way he stands out that I can see is that he is only 31. Is an unknown 31 year old the best person to manage a big squad with big wages and big personalities? Same goes for Clark in my opinion, although he has a better record if not proven higher than League One.
You mean the website that refers to News and "Gossip" - has to be gospel then.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think for one minute that the Messiah will return but my point is that he has not spoken !
Who is stating Robinson is rated at this level Stour?
I think the first comment above is about him going to Huddersfield if we got Clark.
Robinson has been linked to the Leicester job this week in various sources. I didn't know who he was so looked him up and found nothing special.
I was wondering whether anyone in League One had any better knowledge of him which wasn't apparent from the stats.
How about Billy Davies, Dave Jones?
Why would LC want to leave Huddersfield ,
a club that has a chairman who has shown that he patient and willing to allow time to build a squad and values stability and sustainability over instant success
to a club that has had a revolving door of managers and wants everything to happen now
MNterrier,
I certainly think there would be some reasons that would persuade Clark not to consider leaving Huddersfield, but it seems a little short sighted to suggest there would be no reasons at all for him to consider Leicester City.
As mentioned on another thread, Talksport have stated not long ago that Leicester will be approaching Town in the next couple of hours for approval to speak to Clark.
One thing to consider, Lee Clark only has a one year rolling contract at town. Something which took a mighty long time for him to sign up to...He doesn't have the security of a 3 year contract he might get at Leicester City. However, his appointed back room staff, fazackerly, who left Town to go 'up' to Leicester has now been sacked...so that might not incline LC to want to go there.
Another factor is loyalty..which LC has preached no end at Town, and good for him too...he let Pelts and Pilks go as he had assured them a lack of promotion would allow them to leave.
It will all be upto deano, if he tells LC that he can talk to Leicester then that will tell LC he is okay to leave..and then I think he will go.
As for Karl Robinson, he has set up a very neat and good footballing side at MKDons..he has a good reputation for what he has done there so far, albeit in div 1.
If LC leaves it could be the end of our promotion hopes for this year I reckon, so I am a bit mixed about all this to be honest.
Leicester are going to be a poisoned chalice now. With foreign owners desperate for success now, I can see the Foxes hiring and firing at will and failing to gain promotion spending big bucks, How long will the foreign owners last till the inevitable toys are thrown out of the pram and they walk away leaving the club in a financial mess ?
To be fair Bryce, they have only sacked one manager. But I guess with foreign ownership, the 'how long will they last' dilemma is a question for any clubs in this situation.
However, I think that discussion is probably best in a seperate thread.
I would be gutted if Lee Clark did leave Town for Leicester but he could potentially be a Premier league manager come start of next season if he goes! That might be too much temptation for him!
How lucky would he be though to have 2 of his 1st mangerial jobs at 2 excellent clubs with bags of money!!! That doesnt happen to all the managers out there!
Its all speculation though and word coming out of Town is that he aint going anywhere! Certainly nothing will happen before tomorrows games anyway.
Personally i hope Lee Clark stays at Huddersfield, he's done a reasonable job there and has them unbeaten for 40 games or so, he should stay there and get them into the Championship and learn his trade at Champs level for a couple of years with them.
If not MON then it's Got to be
Billy D or Mark Hughes for me.
Phone calls must have been made back & forth, I think we all agree on that.
TOWNs unbeaten run,
Tomorrows game at Yeovil, (which should...see the run extended)
lots going on,
I can't see L C talking today...can you?
But come Monday, I reckon negotiations will start proper.
personally. I want Clark to stay put, It would seem there are 'issues' at Leicester if you are so close to playoff positions with such a long way to go to the seasons end, Yet the owners see fit to change the management !
very narrow chance of immediate success for a newcomer I'd say.
(maybe why m o n has decided, 'thanks but no thanks'
This unbeaten run is an achievement, Lucky or not, He's done it,
OK, not at the highest level, but neither has he the highest standard of players, or a budget like top Championship & Premier sides. So Well done Clarky, See it through, stay at TOWN.
& with a bit of luck, We'll meet next season with a visit to the Cheese & Onion stadium
Players and managers can go where they like, virtually when they like...
managers talk about wanting "time" to build teams and they moan about "pressure" and then the first chance they get they jump ship..
this is the reason that i applauded the one year "rolling deal" which means both sides can bail out if its not going right without stupid compensation being paid by the host club or the new club.
players have little loyalty and managers probably less, most clubs are just a stepping stone to more money and a higher profile.
i dont know how deano and clark get on, there is a stream of compliments from both sides but the facts are its a high intensity business with casualties on both sides as a regular reminder that success(of differing levels) is always required.
At this moment we have been close but no cigar, we have spent a great deal(in 3rd div terms) and we are still close without any actual success. Leicester almost want guaranteed success NOW, which we know is not possible to do. Clark would be daft to take that on, its not a challenge its a kick in the b=lls just waiting to happen.
Clark would be an absolute idiot to leave us and go to Leicester. If he had any sense he'd be banging on Dean's door using this as an opportunity to get the long-term contract he didn't get in the summer. He has job security here, something that no Leicester City manager will ever have - they could hire Alex Ferguson and they'd sack him if they weren't top by Christmas!
He has an ego, and no doubt he wants to be Newcastle manager one day, so he needs to move up the football league ladder, but he should really be making a step up with us this season and then he can see where he wants to go from there. After all, he's achieved nothing whatsoever in his management career thus far.
terrier..
we think he hasnt proved himself yet...lee does not think that..he firmly believes he has what it takes because its what he has always wanted to do..in his own mind he gets little wrong and we dont know anything about football because we support huddrsfield town and we are not geordies or scousers, who the media have always given far too much credit to for their so called "footballing knowledge".. If a geordie had so much knowledge wouldnt they have won something???
He started with the wrong attitude and its just hardened im afraid, that he is here to save us with his massive "top flight" experience and his "knowledge" of the game.. We are lucky to have him etc etc etc..
My opinion is that wether he stays or goes this team will either do enough or not irrespective of his ideas/tactics, team selection.. the team is very definitely at odds with the management whilst on the field, the bodly language and the verbal exchanges are evidence of this.. hopefully the team will pull through in the end..
how many geordies have come to town and made a right ars- of it???
Still no idea what style of play we have - we just seem to be a team of highly paid players that, in general, are individually of a higher standard than our opponents and hence can generally pull something out of the bag when we aren't playing well (often) and can put teams away convincingly when it does go right (generally when teams attack us).
We don't have a style of play - no-one has ever defined how we play - is it long ball? is it a passing style? it just seems to be good when teams attack us and give us space and bad when teams set up to stop us playing.
3 years in (and loads of brass to spend) and we don't have a particular method - we just have a collection of better-than-average players and a strong mentality borne out of a long unbeated run.
And we wonder why clarcky never praises us??
half a dozen managers on here..who think they can do a better job.....a couple of european cups and some on here would still be moaning!
To 38 and all the other Clark knockers, please ask yourselves the following questions:
1) Has Town's form steadily improved over the past 3 years?
2) Is the current team almost entirely made up of players signed and coached by Lee Clark?
3) When was the last time you remember a Town team going on a 40 match unbeaten league run?
4) Do you believe Town's promotion chances are looking better this season, than during any others over the past 10 years or so?
5) When was the last time you can remember a Town Manager winning 81 (50%) of his first 162 games in charge?
6) When was the last time you can remember a Town team not winning promotion with 87 points?
7) And finally, have you ever been as optomistic about Town's current promotion chances and future, as you are at present under the stewardship of Hoyle & Clark?
And don't come back with the old turnip of "well Clarky's had more money to spend than anyone else in League One", when you are only guessing at to what the figure might be, plus money spent is no guarantee of success - just ask Man City who have spent over £800 million and have only a "wattered down" version of the FA cup to show for it.
So, if you're not happy with what Hoyley and Clarky are trying to achieve, I suggest you p--s off and start supporting Bradford City, then you lot would have something genuine to continually grumble about for a change.
