Great manager, but I could not consider him the best unless or until he works in one of teh other top leagues and wins things...

like for example, Mourinho....won things in Spain, Portugal, England and Italy.....

WUM?! Honestly Mindieu, if this was a wum attempt, it would be an epic failure, since it does contain soem real points.

I would ARGUE (which of course is very much debatable) that Wenger is on course to be a better manager. For me Wenger is missing one CL trophy.

1) Wenger won the league is less time then Fergie. His squad was is equal disarry to Uniteds, when Fergie took over, but did a faster ob in turning things round.

2) Wenger got to the CL final in less time then Fergie. The fact that fergie won it, is irrelevant. Even hardcore united fans would agree that you didn't deserve t win the trophy.

3) Wenger has gone a whole season unbeaten

4) With the financial restraints suffocating Arsenal, Wenger has done a miraclous job in keeping Arsenal in contention. Finance has never been an issue with Fergie.


Ergo, Wenger is argubly a better manager then Fergie.

I'm sorry, but point 4 is the reason Wenger will NEVER be as good as SAF.

United were a cup team when fergie took over, L/pool were winning league after league.

fergie turned all that around giving United fans the title we wanted so badly & much more succes then we could ever dream of, the man in my eyes is a legend.

Not really bothered what supporters from other clubs think as its all about opinons but for me he's up there with the very best.

Don't get me wrong Wenger did well with Arsenal but they had less to do to take them to the summit of the premeir league than Wenger did...

Onto Europe and obviously we didn't get there as soon, and were banned even if we had got there...

This in combanation with foriegner rules (which would have killed Wengers Arsenal) and the fact that England was quite a weak league when United were starting out... You wouldn't exactly criticise a manager of a French club side for not winning the CL these days would you ?

Because thats probably about the level we were at (or probably worse) given these restrictions Fergie did brilliiantly to not only drag United up the summit of the league but to make them one of the worlds best and help drag the English league back up to the levels it was pre European ban (well maybe not quite that good)

Given all this... Fergie is a pure unadulterated genius...

But I think Wenger has been second only to Fergie in England in his entire time at Arsenal and that includes Mourinho!

I think the great manager is one who has own several things with different teams/clubs. Fergie, has only handling man u for last 25 years..who knows what would have happened if he would have gone to Real, Barca, inter etc. ! may be managing national team ! So he is one of the greatest manager around but nothing exceptionally great as some people think.
