Played a bit of both and both are great. The campaign in london is cool, you see canary wharf and have to stop a truck in millwall :O

Theres an underground map in london online and thats my fave so far

I swear it's exactly the same as Mw2 but with different maps lol

I know, i had black ops for a week and then mugged it off!
Trust me, this is mw2, but better!

I did EXACTLY the same, had it for just over a week and then put it on Ebay to get some of my money back

It looks like mw2 but it plays and feels different. Haven't found any annoying overpowered things yet either.

UMP is actually quite overpowered...but yeah it feels a bit different

It's everything I expected it to be.

Harder than Blops though, can barely hold a 3KD.

the game mission is superb the multiplayer is like mw2 and it is a load of rehashed pash and the maps are waaaaaaaaay to big

not a patch on black ops or mw1

when will activision learn?

I'm almost definately going to buy Battlefield 3, was waiting for MW3 to be released as I desperately wanted it to be amazing and live up to the hype but reading the reviews and talking to people who own it, I'm yet to see anything that suggests it's worth £40 + of my hard earned. I've owned every one since COD 4 and this one seems to be near enough a copy and paste job (yet again).

Please can someone detail what's better about it? I want it to be good, and kind of want to be convinced by it. I get that the campaign has different stages, but from experience that can be completed in a matter of days so it's the multiplayer I'm interested in. Talking to my friends they all say 'wow it's amazing'' but fail to actually detail what it is that makes it any better than MW2 or Black Ops except for one saying 'the killstreaks are different!' and 'you can jump through windows' hardly game changers..., too many people are sucked in by the hype train me thinks.

MW3 = £45 Map pack

suckers

guys, quick query... on black ops there was a mode where you could play splitscreen with a mate on the multi player maps vs bots... have they included that in mw3? (it wasn't in mw2)

spent many an hour on there training mates before allowing them online to ruin my stats

posted on 9/11/11

yes

posted on 9/11/11

excellent, my stats are safe.... when i have any to keep safe

to those saying it's an expensive map pack.... come back and comment when you've played it. you clearly haven't.

christhegunner - the maps are far more intricate, seemingly higher paced action (though that could be because i don't know the maps lol), new unlock systems, a whole new set up of kill streaks you can use to support your team as well as the usual personal ones etc etc. and of course an updated graphics engine.

if you're dubious about spending the money, rent it first. personally i am very glad i spent the money though.

the only down side to me is that despite auchinairnbear's assurance, there isn't a combat training mode, which personally i though was the best thing about black ops, there is a survival mode instead, which is more like zombies really, except they shoot at you lol

well, my first impressions are all good.... awesome... until about 12:30 last night... when it left me rather exasperated.

my mate went to load up a ground war the server crashed a couple of times, then it came up and said 'out of memory' and kicked us out of the multiplayer bit.... loaded it up again and it showed me as only level 5 and having only played 5 rounds..... which was roughly what i'd done before he got there

about 3 hours of play and at least 13 levels of unlocks gone

but hey-ho, won't take long to get there again.

seems like everything about it is sharper than mw2.... the new gun perks are cool, the levelling up system on them seems to work well... overall very impressed.

ZZ, I wouldn't worry too much about that, they'll probably restore your level and XP.
I'm hoping its at home when I get there

i did check it this morning before work, it hadn't up until then.... maybe it will have when i get home.

i'm not overly fussed tbh... won't take me long to get it back if it doesn't restore them. you have to expect the odd glitch on a brand new game.

Zaphod Zoeller™ - It's Movember! let that 'tache grow gents! (U2027)

I guess the problem I have is that, I see games generally as a rip off. I love to play them, I can afford to buy them but I choose to only buy a few new games a year and will delve into older titles I missed the first time round quite alot if I can get them on the cheap pre-owned. I recently bought Arkham City which is a fantastic game, highly original and really building on it's predecessor of two years in a massive way. Call of Duty from experience, whilst decent, polished shooters are massively overhyped each year. I think people are too easily swayed by the marketing and the hype that surrounds these games, and too often people believe that something being popular is an indication of how good it is, but this simply isn't the case. You only need to look at the modern music charts to see evidence.

I'm not totally against the whole 'releasing a new game every year' as I buy Fifa year after year because I simply like to have the latest one. I would fully welcome a decent rival football game to be released, however at the moment there simply isn't one. Pro Evo has been weak since Pro 6.
However what I am against is that every year, Call of Duty is heralded as one of the best games of the year e.t.c. when, for the past few years it simply isn't the case. Like I said, I've owned all of the current generation versions, and usually after the 'new game' gloss had worn off I was left disappointed. Both MW2 and Black Ops barely lasted until Christmas before I was trading them in years gone by.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the other hand was a real example of how to do a team-based console shooter right, however it never received anywhere near as much recognition as each Call of Duty title did, and neither will battlefield 3, despite it generally being heralded as the most definitive multiplayer shooting experience you can get.

I guess what I'm saying is that Call of Duty, whilst obviously it does what it does very well and that's stick to a formula that's easily accessible and recogniseable, it gets undue recognition and should generally not be hailed as anything more than an update of the previous edition.
