and our equally brave footballers, like John Terry, aren't allowed to wear a poppy in case they offend a German? It's a blooming disgrace.

Surprised Gordon can't see that that whole 'removed' section was clearly a parodical joke at the expense of people who do the very thing he was accusing the author of doing

But I also understand why you wanted it removed

Zoeller
I just get annoyed with people that take the mickey out of the most vulnerable, who can't respond/retaliate . . . . any insulting reference that is condoned will encourage others ( idiots like Ricky Gervais and Jimmy Carr ) to copy, which will have inevitable results.

The article without the reference is just as good as it was ( better 'cos of the lack of . . . . )

For those of you who would like to see the full, possibly more offensive version go to http://davepundit.blogspot.com/

I warn you though there's only about 2 sentences extra.

Gordon Armstrong (U2977), I think as an experiment you should go and watch Frankie Boyle live. It would be interesting to see whether you would:
a) vomit in righteous fury
b) become incandescent with rage and explode
c) hide under the seat
d) phone your mum and she if she can get the bad man to go away

Seriously mate, it's comedy. Nothing more. And as an art form it has probably done more than any other to break social taboos.

No doubt it has, 'Last One In' but it's usually not necessary to abuse others

Do you now think that I'm a prude, or just a 'sad' person that doesn't like a laugh

Well said last one in!

It really annoys me how people can get so precious over comedy. It's just a bit of fun ffs.

The difference in my eyes between Dave and someone like Frankie Boyle is that target. The butt of the joke in these articles is Dave himself. The butt of the joke in Frankie Boyles jokes is whoever the joke is about.

And if you really want to see offensive comedy done well, sod Frankie Boyle and go and see Jerry Sadowitz or Doug Stanhope.

Or if you wnat to see a brilliant disection of what is and isn't offensive in comedy watch Brendon Burns's "So I Suppose This Is Offensive Now". True Genius.

There was an episode of South Park that dealt with the topic well, should we make fun of the handicapped(Timmy)? So what do we do, leave them out of every joke like they don’t exist?
Or do we treat them equally and take the mick like we do with everyone?
That new Gervais show Life’s Too Short starring Warwick who is a midget and I’m sure if you asked him would he would he rather have the mick taken out of him on occasion or ignored?
It’s a tricky topic that if not dealt with carefully can be offensive rather than funny

My was in reply to 'Anfield Rap' . . . . but it could just as easily be a response to 'Jensen'

Jim Davison once refused to do a show because the front row were all disabled and so he wouldn't be able to take the mickey out of them like he would a normal audience.

Now THAT'S offensive.

for hijacking this article, somewhat . . . . please 'carry on' as if . . . .

No. From what you've said in this article though I'd say you probably take life a little bit too seriously.

I've just never found any barrier to what I've found funny as long as the material has no malicious intent. To be honest, I hope I never do.

"It's offensive that he refused to do the show.
That's a true story though right?"

Yep. Jim Davison is a truly offensive comic in my eyes.
