Bit of a silly article really. Whether villa was McClarens preferred choice is neither here nor there regarding his ability and although I'm derby I think he will do a good job at florest
I am a Derby fan as well and remember the great job McClaren did for us. He has also done well at Man Utd, Boro and in Holland. No body can do a decent job as England manager. I also find it strange that Villa wouldn't speak to McClaren but are quite happy to speak to a manager with two relegations on his CV. The mind of club owners is beyond our understanding.
it was bad wum by me lol
with what you was saying, i think it was down to the villa fans,

SACKED Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has allegedly hit out at the club’s hierarchy for not backing him in the transfer window. Perhaps now he regrets not selling Kelvin Wilson to Celtic in January.
Excuse the pun but it’s rich for Davies to claim the board hadn’t supported him financially. The club claim to have backed the former Motherwell boss to the tune of £10million during his two-and-a-half years in Nottingham, including splashing out £4million in the summer of 2009. That’s a fair outlay for a Championship club, especially one that hasn’t played top-flight football since 1999 and spent three consecutive seasons in the third thier of England football in the intervening years.
With Forest sitting second in the Championship table in January, Davies decided to knock back a cash offer from Celtic to take Kelvin Wilson to Scotland immediately, with the defender having already signed a precontact to join Celtic in the summer. That’s all well and good if Davies thought Wilson was vital to his promotion plans and therefore worth more than the purported £500,000 Celtic were offering. But after Wilson signed his precontract on January 7, Davies never again played him for Forest. I doubt former Rangers player Davies refused to sanction Wilson’s transfer to Celtic out of some misguided loyalty to his former club — it appears more that he was trying to punish Wilson for a lack of loyalty to Forest. However as a professional football manager, Davies should have put the good of the club ahead of his issues with one player by either playing him or selling him.
Having knocked back Celtic’s cash and the chance to get a player off the wage book that you’re not going to play for whatever reason, Davies can’t now complain about Forest not backing him financially. Ultimately, Forest are out of pocket, Wilson still went to Celtic and Billy Davies is now out of a job.
Get over it Wassa!
We know you love the goings on at our club, but that's gone! Move on! Onto the future, where Forest will remain the best club in the East Midlands, and be the team flying the East Midlands flag, when we hopefully make the Premiership.
Whilst you will be flying the flag, battling to avoid relegation
McClaren in fairness was open about wanting to come back to management in the UK.
I personally think he will be either very good (FC Twente, Utd) or absolutely shocking (Wolfsburge, England).
The problem ND has is that now clubs are agreeing to the UEFA rule with regards finance puts him in a slightly tough situation where he either choose to right off a serious amount of cash or forest have to seriously find a way of getting their finances back in control. Point being owed steve may not have that much cash to work with.
I think Villa fans might regret not wanting McClaren with what they are going to get. I would of loved McClaren to come to Derby and i reckon he'll be able to F*rest to the next level after BD. As a football fan I can't see anyone finishing higher than Forest now. Chriest I hope I'm wrong...My mate has got odds of 18/1 for them to win the league...
Dont worry bout it Griff....your wrong
Didnt Joe Kinnear have a good record before he joined you? :D
And Ron Atkinson and Gary Megson and Colin Calderwood and Dave Bassett and David Platt
alright backo, I hope your right...Steve McClaren couldn't help make reference to the might Rams in his press conferenc tho' could he....
Dru,
I think you may be right that ND has an eye on the future for if/when these new rules come into play.
One thing is obvious,he wants a man in charge that can help Forest bring through our own academy players.
Can McClaren work on the budget that they will give to him? He must believe that he can,I doubt that they will have mislead him with the figures he will have to work with.
The National media will be keeping an eye on McClarens progress after his return to the U.K and the board will be fully aware of this.

huh? cant see it meself.
do you honestly think they will do better than west ham?
Its hard to say Kern.....I think that West Ham might feel the hangover from the Prem. Althou' I'm impressed with them signing Nolan. My best mate is a West ham fan and he's worried that the fans will get on big Sam's back too early. If they don't start well. He reckon's alot of their problems are down to the crowd turning on the team and manager too much. He thinks next it will be stability and push for promotion the following year.
