And that joker Butt wanted him out of the team
BOOM!!!
thank god the match was on Sunday, was a pleasure to watch this type of his innings on tv for the first time of afridi as I've only recently got interested into cricket, after Pak won the t20.
felt bored frustared and bored midway through Lankas inning but thank god I watched it all.
BOOM!
Best odi player without any shadow of doubt.Matchwinner wth both bat and ball and above all brilliant entertainer.
is he coming back to tests?
jezzer, wish he would. we could do with him. afridi replacing rehman would add Soo much more quality with bat ball fielding
has he categorically said no? or is that just implied that he wants to focus on the one day game (a daft decision if you ask me, but anyway...)?
Kaneria is out of favour so Afridi is the only high quality legspinner in the side.
to be honest, I'm not sure jezzer.
IMO, this is one of the best individual performance I have ever seen in an odi. That 75 alone, with the tail, would have been enough to get him MOTM but later he got a fiver.I need to jog my memory to recall anyone dominating a match as much as he did today.
Amla I agree it may even be better than the great Viv Richards 189 v England when he batted with the tail?
Jezzer, Afridi does well when batsman attack him cos he's not a big turner of the ball So in tests he won't be as potent like he is in one dayers but he should still give it one more crack as a second spinner and DRS will also help as he gets a lot of LBWs.
Yes but Rehman isn't a big turner of the ball either Kash... & Afridi has much more varieties.
Lets look at the bad points today of pakistan:
Malik is poo - he's made like 20 runs in 6 innings since his comeback. However he did bowl well and gave us a better option in bowling today than Razzaq does.
Cheeema - Too expensive & on another day his runs which were given away would have cost us more.
Misbah - Running.
Robin like I said I want to give it one more attempt cos in UAE he can prosper. I agree about Malik, just not good enough but I hope be is given one more chance. It maybe time to say goodbye to Razzaq and just keep him for T20 cricket.
Let me hear you say wayhoo.
WAYHOO - that one's for you kash!!!

Boom Boom fantastic!!!
Yet another series win for pakistan.... still not impressed with our pace bowlers though. we need junaid and wahab riaz in that team.
Neon - Average player? U feeling alright?
- Afridi is one of 3 players to score over 5k runs and 300 one day wickets
- Afridi has hit the most 6's in world cricket
- Afridi has more 50's below 20 balls than any player
- Afridi was 2007 T20 WC player of the tournament
- Afridi was man of the match in semi and final of 2009 T20 WC
- Afridi was joint top wicket taker in 2010 WC having played on game less than Khan
Average my as5
I agree Afridi we have become a spin dependant team and Cheema and Gul just have not done it for me. Gul does nothing with new ball anymore and he's not reversing the ball like he used to. Cheema is just to wayward but takes wickets. In the next one day i will rest Gul and give Cheema another chance with Junaid but we also need a 3rd seamer.

Neon just stop looking at stats as they have no bearing on Afridi and his class. Firstly Afridi started off as a part time bowler so his average is high but it has been coming down in the last 5 years and like I said you to before in one day cricket name me one team where he will not walk into?
Kallis is a great player even better than Sachin but thats another debate. I am talking about Afridi and what he has done in the last 5 years in one day cricket. I have not even mentioned the fact that he has scored 2 of the 3 fastest tons in any form of cricket. Don't be so blinkered and hide behind stats.

Neon u still fail to answer my question where you have name me a team in world cricket where Afridi will not walk in? If a player has this kind of clout backing him then he is truly world class. Like i said look at his stats in the last 5 years. Batting is on and off but his bowling is up there with the best. 5 years is not good form, its class and ability.
