"john jensen"
This is true, the likes of Ian Selley and David Hillier would make anyone look good.
John Jensen was good, one of the most under-rated players of PL history.
Mainly on the belief he was some sort of goalscoring midfielder, based on Euro 92 final.
But the fact is JJ was very good at his job as DM, and as JJG states he played with some very average midfielders at Arsenal.

"He was a top defender in his prime and one of the best crossers in the league."
He was cack when he came up against anyone with pace though wasn't he?

Only in the last few years. I dont really recall him getting torn to pieces on many occasions when in his prime.
Gilberto? Now you are getting silly.

Overmars ripped him to shreds regularly. I also remember Stan Laziridis destroying him when Australia played England which is pretty shameful.
John Terry has been very fortunate to play alongside some decent centre halfs in his time. Whenever he's played alongside a useless one he make Djimi Traore look like Beckenbauer.

Every player has an off day and every player sometimes plays above their level. These things happen in football. There is no shame in getting pulled apart by Overmars - he was a top player. The fact remains he was one of the most consistent defenders in the league for years. Can you name another RB that was more consistent when Neville was in his prime?

Víctor Valdés has to be the one for me. The guy has (alomst) nothing to do.
When you are a goalkeeper for a team that keep the ball for an average of 75% during the game.... it must be boring!
---
I used to laugh at Valdés a lot. He used to be tremendously error-prone, but to be fair he's largely left those days behind him.
What needs to be considered is that a great many of the chances he does have to deal with are 1-on-1 situations with the striker, and he's probably one of the best in the trade in that department. He's got excellent reflexes, is quick off his line and commits late, all of which mean he's excellently suited to the game Barça play. If he's also 2nd choice keeper now for Spain, ahead of Reina and D. Lopez, I doubt it's because Del Bosque's an idiot - it's probably because after Casillas, he's the one best suited to Spain's style of play too.
He may well struggle in a team that defends deep, but I'm sure a lot of keepers more suited to the PL would concede more goals at Barça than he does.
Titus bramble!
How the hell is he still a PL player??

Sorry - didn't mean to say it twice, say it twice!
"Can you name another RB that was more consistent when Neville was in his prime?"
Not off the top of my head but I think that says more about the dearth of RB's rather than Gary Neville's quality.
Lee Dixon was still better than him when Lee was well past his prime.

Sadly we'll never know how badly Giggs would've torn Neville to shreds though so it's hard to make a comparison on that front. Stan Laziridis never tore Dixon to shreds though did he?

You led yourself down this path by mentioning Lee Dixon after your 'Overmars ripped Neville to shreds' comment.
Now Lee Dixon, there was a player who was made to look good by the far superiour players around him.

Didnt Neville replace him in the England team at the age of 20? Before Neville reached his prime and whilst Dixon was still in his?
Also, I seem to recall a recent poll putting together the best PL team in history and Neville came out on top for the RB spot. Dixon came in second. Voted by pundits and fans I think.

I was just saying that now that the comparison between Dixon and Neville has been made (which it hadn't when I mentioned Overmars, by the way) let's compare them against players that they both played against which is only fair.
Also it had already been pointed out that good defenders being outplayed by good wingers isn't anything to be ashamed of so to bring up Giggs after that was a bit silly wouldn't you think?
It's amazing how seriously you Man Utd fans have taken what was just an easy gag.
