I just need reassuring, as I live in Nottingham and work with a million Forest fans.

Sam

Without doubt isn't the answer, think the cross for the goal papered over how bad he was last week

No i can see us drawing with Forest yet winning against Barnsley. However when you substitute Leeds into the equation you've got a draw against Barnsley and a win against Forest. Hope this helps.

Some of your posts are absolutely ridiculous and show no knowledge of the game.

Full backs are very different to centre backs. They attack on the wings and provide support for the wingers. This means that 2 players from the other team will be attacking down the same wing. It is the responsiblity of the winger to mark the first man that comes at them, and the defender drops back and covers the second man. A defender cannot cover for 2 men on his own. They'll just pass around him. Sam was practically playing central midfield at that point and he was caught out of position. White then had to try and stay at a point where he could cover them both. This is very hard to do and you wouldn't expect him to be able to, luck would have had to have been on his side.

Also, I think Pugh is worth 500k. It isn't obvious what he does for the team. You only see it when he's not there. For me he is what we missed against Burnley. As soon as they scored I said we miss Pugh and everybody around me agreed. People have said he adds balance to the squad but there was a lack of proof to that statement. I saw that proof against Burnley. Snoddy has some defensive work rate, he does come back and defend. Sam doesn't come back and defend so it puts it even more out of balance. You've got a player that attacks more than defends and a player that just attacks. Way out of balance. If you have Pugh and Snoddy it evens out midway-ish edging slightly more attacking, as Pugh is slightly more attacking than defensive, obviously he's a wide midfielder he isn't going to be more defensive than anything

Confused again Eric?

It is all still Ridsdale's fault!

Its clear that White and Pugh have a good understanding that enables Aidy to get forward more - Sam is a differant player who can move out of position (concentration) where Pugh doesn't. I expect Pugh if fit to come straight back in today.

We have a bad habit of dropping home points when on paper at least we should be picking up all three, then just when you think we have messed up we go and win two difficult away games on the bounce. We have Barnsley and Millwall at home with a trip to see Robin Hoods lot inbetween. They way our up and down form goes we will win at Forest and drop points in both home games.
Starting today lets hope we decide to play for the whole 90 minutes and not just the second 45.

We have taken 17 points in last 9 games since our defence improved with Connolly at RB and Lees at CB.
losing Lonergan in the Donny away game has seen some eratic form but with McCarthy in goal short term we are back on track.

this has pushed us into the play off places- Burnley we missed Lees and Pugh and with these back should get a good win today.

next 8 games we should pick up 17 points and maybe even as high as the auto places with other teams around us dropping points- which has happened all season.

Barnsley (h) Win
Forest (a) Loss
Millwall (h) Win
Watford (A) Draw
Reading (h) Draw
Derby (a) Win
Barnsley (a) Win
Burnley (h) Win

West Ham form over next 8 games will be interesting- not great at home and actually better away.

Cardiff look to have consistency this season and will also push on.

Pugh is like a mentor to White. Pugh has also got experience at LB so he is constantly telling Aidy what he should be doing. I also expect O'Dea to have his loan extended in January. He's underrated in my opinion and has being solid in all but the Southampton game where he was played out of position. He also realises the problem at LB with Aidy's height and when Aidy challenges for a header he covers behind him.

White was doing his job, Kelly, marking his winger. it was the right back who crossed for Burnley, the man who Sam should have been closing down.

posted on 26/11/11

White was at fault too not closing down his man- given far too much room- hence the quality of the cross.
White is the defender not SAM its his primary role.

posted on 26/11/11

White was doing his job as a defender, closing down his man, WHO WASN'T TRIPPIER.

Trippier, the right back, was not the winger, Stanislas, who White was marking properly and should have been.

It is Sam's job as the winger to close down the full back.
