Let me guess...could it be that fans from Derry don't see the BA as heroes?

Anyone who doesn't like seeing human rights protesters shot in the back might have that view.

From Derry to Dubai.

golac - it may not be the easy way out but it is selfish.

Its his wife, and more importantly his kids i feel for. My dad died when i was a kid. Cancer. He would have done anything to live and see his kids grow up. Thats why speed gets little sympathy from me.

Im not trying to offend anybody, but suicide is selfish!

I don't see how I can be blamed when I was merely highlighting the disgubting viewpoints of someone previously on the issue.

I'm not one of those trying to create some sort of criteria list for showing respect.

Suicide is tragic.

It's not an 'easy way out'. That is such an old school myth.

I'm sure Speed must have been suffering from a very serious illness, which is most likely a very severe form of depression. It's incredible how such an illness can change a person, but it's also incredible how little sympathy people with mental illnesses can receive.

Selfish? Maybe he thought at the time it was best for everyone that he went.

Ultimately though we don't know what was going on in the head and life of Gary Speed up to Saturday night/Sunday morning. Maybe we'll find out, maybe not. But I think it's incredibly hard to be critical of a person because of their illness.

It wasn't a question from Ish. It was only this - in his initial response. His comments in this article alone show him up to be a cretin of the lowest order. There's no defending him in my opinion. How anyone gives him the benefit of the doubt is beyond me.

And just on the topic of suicide being "the easy way out", as someone who works in mental health I can assure you that there is nothing easy about taking your own life. It actually takes amazing bravery to take that step as everything about your being makes you want to find a way to live. People who take that most final of steps deserve more than to be mocked and ridiculed on internet forums, football manager or not.

agreed, how anyone can say its the easy way out. To be in that frame of mind is something hopefully most people dont reach. To know that you will never see again all the people you care for, your wife, children, family, friends is not selfish, it is heartbreaking.

not a time to judge, let his family grieve ffs

Green Genie

My point is, you had already done a thread and saw the reaction, yet you see fit to basically reproduce the same, which has directly led to this.

No need to repeat it, imho.

golac - sorry, theres no excuse. I have my reasons and stand by them.

Yeah, the diatribe from some in this article quite clearly calibrates that
