3 things

Firstly, the initial idea on 7 minutes may have been cringey, but for an unofficial one to work, a pre-set time would be needed. The fact that there is an official one before the game is much better.

Secondly, I don't believe I or anyone else should need criteria for who they should show respect for. Can we not just show respect without meeting certain requirements?

Lastly, it's not my fault that this has turned into a point-scoring exercise. The viewpoints of some of my fellow posters however are very disturbing to say the least.

Henrik

No matter what you think.

Bad things by a minority no matter how small still represent the club.

If two Rangers fans attack Stokes car (i know nothing ) Then the media portrayal looks bad on the whole club.

thats a cop out henrik, did the fans have a collection? did they put the tins round or was this just to save the club more embarassment from the people who cant spell their banners correctly

So exactly, the club have donated to the poppy appeal, despite your earlier statement saying that Celtic were the only club who never donate.

As for the supporters, surely wearing a poppy is a matter of individual choice. The club cannot force people to wear anything they do not want to wear.

Good few berrz showing themselves up over the past 2 days.

Sunday must really have hurt.

Jokes about Gary Speed. Jokes about people who want to show respect for his passing.

Lectures on what you should and should not show respect for. And it was November the 11th when? Oh that's right, just a couple of weeks ago.

You couldn't make it up.

Stevie, I'll come down into the muck you live in for a moment.
Are you saying there are no Celtic supporters in the B.A.?

Are you also saying that the rights that they fought and many died for should not be exercised?

You are just a wee clown.

Was that you that gave the police dog food-poisoning when he bit you?

A minority of fans embarrassed the rest of us and the club, but in their own twisted stupid mind they think they have an excuse!!!

What do Rangers fans have against Gary Speed??

The tears are flowing from the Bhoys mock sadness

As a neutral in your neverending bickering, my view on all this is that if Dundee United were to say at the weekend that they were holding a minutes silence (I don't like a minutes applause unless the person has died of old age) then I'd happily take part and spend that minute thinking of how Gary Speed was one of my favourite players growing up (I liked Everton as a lad) and how sad it is that people feel the need to do this.

However, if United decide not to hold a minutes silence, I wouldn't think twice about it.

It's exceptionally sad and I spent a fair amount of time on Sunday in shock at what had happened. However, he didn't really have anything to do with my club or the league that my club play in so I'd be happy enough to pay my respects in my own way rather than through an organised event through my club.

And just on the topic of suicide being "the easy way out", as someone who works in mental health I can assure you that there is nothing easy about taking your own life. It actually takes amazing bravery to take that step as everything about your being makes you want to find a way to live. People who take that most final of steps deserve more than to be mocked and ridiculed on internet forums, football manager or not.

+++++++

Let me guess...could it be that fans from Derry don't see the BA as heroes?

That they may see them as murderers of civilians, whom they were suppose to represent?

Ye asked for it...deal with it

How come in the 70's, 80's and 90's...there was no 'poppygate'???

I wonder if any of the Dhims will disrupt this minutes applause by refusing to clap.

Nothing against Gary Speed.

Just have no idea why he's become 500x the man he was on Saturday Afternoon just cause he's dead.

The club donated to the poppy appeal. FACT

Wearing a poppy is a matter of individual choice. FACT

I do not see what can be disputed about those statements.
