wrong again blueandwhitehalves.

The median average salary-linked public sector pension that is currently being paid out to a pensioner, is worth £5,600 a year.

That compares with £5,860 in the private sector, according to the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF).

By the way this shouldnt be and isn't a battle between public and private otherwise it becomes a race to the bottom.

Your arrogance really sickens me McVenkys. I've worked in finance all my life and help relatives with their decisions about whether to enter their pension schemes (public and private) or not. You've read an article on the bbc website, pick one quote out which is immediately qualified with further evidence in the very same article, quote that at me and then accuse me of being thick on the matter. Thats it now idiot, I'll continue this argument with people of more intelligence.

I've worked in both the private and the public sector, and was paid a much higher salery in the public. Just thought I'd throw my experience in.

But as stated RFIK.... KEAN OUT!!!

You just come back with parochialistic insular reasons so you have no grasp of the wider issues. I have two friends who worked in similar jobs to yours. They dont complain about their "private" pensions.

It depends what you do in the public sector as well. Specialist skills will always be paid more and people who work unsocial hours or work in the emergency services for instance. I know private sector workers do work unsocial hours as well. There is always the possibility of changing roles for all, if you don't like either the public sector or private, then change.

KEAN OUT (still)

I worked for both the private and public sector prison service, and in that case the public sector is better paid, and by a large margin. But there are pro's and con's to both sides. I currently can't afford to pay into a pension plan, and therefore feel those with a pension of any size should look at the wider picture. These are hard times for everyone thanks to the previous govt and the banks. Let's not turn on each other on this issue, as emotive as it is.

KEAN OUT !! (still )

Indeed. Probably wasn't a wise idea for me to start it. Just bugged me listening to the radio on the way to work hearing strikers going on about everyone being behind them as if it was some noble cause.

Aaaaanyway, you put you Steve Kean in, take your Steve Kean out, in out in out, you shake him all about, you throw him in the atlantic and you win a game, thats what its all about!

Touchy subject. I have said my piece. Chill B&WH, some of the personal stuff written on here to you is unnecessary....
