------------------------------------------

He can have all the Christmas dinner he likes, already scored 10 and has 24 league games and the FA Cup to go this season.

Can you let me know when Cahill, Vellios, Saha or Stracqualursi get to 10 goals...

Well done MaccyT attaching a reference to Kean to the Yak's brilliant goal-scoring...

Well fair enough, Kean signed him and no-one else wanted him. Many Rovers fans thought he was a useless signing but at least 2 fans on here thought he was a good acquisition and said so at the time.

Aside from who signed him. His goals against Arsenal and Wigan were instinctive as was his first strike against Swansea. A number of his other goals have been right place right time stuff, consistent with all genuine goal-scorers and his penalties absolutely top drawer as he sends keepers the wrong way. He finishes with aplomb and scoring four in the PL in one game is an amazing achievment.

Well done Yakubu, providing a ray of light this season already. Easily one of Kean's best signings and although new to our club giving his all and fully contributing at a time of huge pressure for all involved at the club.

Averaging 1 goal every 3 PL games I think, even before he met Steve Kean....

OOJW merely trying to enjoy the midweek between fixtures, as we almost have something to smile about.

Perfectly acceptable to attribute Kean some praise from signing him, likewise for Hughes getting Bentley, Benni Mac and RSC and also Sam for instigating the first team development of Jones and Hoilett.

A Manager decides where and when to spend the money given to him, Kean took a punt of Yakubu going cheap, has slotted in to our team and Pedersen, Formica, Hoilett, Rochina clearly work to his strengths. We are putting the ball in the right places for him and like you say, he can finish as good as any striker I've seen.

The first goal against Swansea was sublime, just like the first against Arsenal.

Early contender for signing of the season, and a total shoe in for it if he hits 20+.

9 in 10 in the league is it? Alan Shearer eat your heart out A victory for the statisticians IMO. As oojw pointed out those initially pleased about his signing were probably in the minority among Rovers fans. But gimme a career goalscoring ratio of below 1 in 3 and I couldn't care less how fat or lazy fans think he is.

I think I was initially just a little miffed, certainly not disappointed, and have been hugely surprised with how good a signing he has been to date.

My only worry is that when you look at his stats he appears to have a glut of scoring early on that then fades some what. Although at Boro he was fairly consistent. Certainly Everton and Leicester he netted a hatful then stopped scoring.

To me that was the main point of frustration for the booing when he went over to Kean, a happy Yakubu clearly scores goals and works hard, he is smiling and scoring. Whilst Kean is with us that relationship needs to remain the same as it is beneficial to all of us.

And man alive Yakubu really does make Roberts look shocking

McT, as said on other threads though, the celebrating with Kean was unnecessary!

-------------------------------------------------

No it isn't! Why on earth do you think that?

Was it unnecessary for Phil Jones to wave over to Fergie after scoring at Villa? Obviously pointing out that he'd scored after Fergie had started him in centre mid and no doubt asked him to attack into the box when he could.

I'm sure through training all week Kean will have worked on certain things with Yakubu and it clearly paid off.

The protests at Carfiff were warranted, but not on Saturday.

I would rather have him than some of the others definitely Samaras he is utter shyser. He has proven record in the Premier League and is better than Benjani, Roberts, Blackman I know Benjani was never going to come back but that is what we have had this and last season. He is a vast improvement.

My point is proven I knew he was a bargain. Thank f we didn't get samaras!

McT - because it's another dig at the fans.

Yak is being paid a decent wage and will have got a longer contract than Everton were offering. He maybe loyal to the man lining his pockets but it could equally have been Coyle or Martinez.

The fans care passionately, spend money they barely have and have been treated abysmally by the manager and owners.

Absolutely no need for Yak to 'make a stand'.

I feel your putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 here Pie.

Personally I thought it was good to see our top striker and Manager united. It is good for Rovers.

Bit late on the thread.... but fully agree so far so good for the Yak... lets hope he stay "hungry" and keeps scoring... a proper steal for £1.5m... "Eat" your heart out Mr Moyes.

And yep never say I don't give credit where it's deserved... if Kean only gets one thing right in his (hopefully not much longer) tenure, then the Yak good just be it.
