My friend you have a very short memory. Sure if what you are looking for is a midfield to overcome most of what is on offer in the premiership then we probably have enough already. I would like us to compete with the very best in Europe(ie Barca and Real) and to do that we need better quality than what you suggest.

We'd beat real now. Barca beat us because there CM couldn't be stopped. As stated, used the right way, Park > Modric or Nasri. Sneijder is better than Park with the ball, but useless and extremely lazy without it. A midfield 3 of Fletch, Carrick and Ando with Park coming inside from wide would do much better. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though, and Fletch was unavailable. Don't patronise me Jessie, I know what i'm talking about.

Obviously my above comment was in reference to the Barca game. Playing them requires a unique approach, they are comfortably the best team in the world and if you assembled the 11 best non Barca players in football, they'd still be beaten by Barca if they tried to play the way Barca do.

Agreed. Sneijder I would love to see, wants to stay in Italy it seems. Sanchez I would love to see but with Barca in too, it will be tough. Modirc wants to stay in London and Nasri would seem to be engineering from the agent to get a big contract at Arsenal. We have the midfielders, Charlie Adam would be a good aquisition, and would give us a threat at set pieces that we have long long missed!

We could do Real no problem, In the champions league final we could have parked the bus but we didnt, maybe that will be the way it has to be in the future should we face them again.

PJS is a good big game player but doesnt have the ability to be a creative force in a top team. Hugely overrated.

As for cleverly, will make a squad player, but not good enough for first team.

Stretty.

Granted I can only ever see Cleverley being cover (sort of like an attacking Nicky Butt), but Park is proven in the CL and internationally in that role. If you can, try and watch some footage of him playing in an advanced central role if you can. Games in the recent WC and PSV vs AC Milan do stick out in my mind. I think the real revelation though will be Ando with Carrick and Park/Fletcher/(New CM) behind him. Mark my words that'll be our CM for tough away games this season. Rooney upfront alone with Chica on the bench.

I hope Anderson lives upto Ferguson's expectations this season, cause if he doesn't, he's out in the summer. All he needs is to stat fit for a whole season and he'd have a Nani like improvement.

Stretty, I take back what I just said. After that last comment, which was so uninformed and pathetic, I can honestly say you never saw Park before he was a united played except YouTube at best. Mug. The rest of your comments will now be deleted until you start talking sence. (and fyi, even Arsenal fans don't think Nasri's any good in that position, and they'll know better than you)

Overrated? What are you bumbling on about?

posted on 18/6/11

Its not hard to understand, he is overrated and his footballing ability is quite poor. He brings good energy and desire and not a lot else. Well overrated.

Park is an average player.

Take a look at our biggest game of the season, Chelsea, then tell me the same thing.

Make sure you watch from the very start, you know, where he made an inch perfect through pass to Hernandez within a minute.

From the first whistle to the last, he made sure they couldn't keep the ball. Fergie knows how good he is, hence why he's our big game player.

Injury time solo winner against Wolves ring a bell?
Killed the CL tie off against Chelsea with a goal?
Winner against Arsenal in the league?
United player of the month 2 months in a row?

Certainly not overrated, and certainly not average.

Stretty just doesn't think it's possible for us to have good midfielders unless they cost £35m

Actually our biggest game of the season was aginst barca.

Oh well done him. Against wolves of all people, well well done to him.

And? None of these things means he has good technical ability.

One pass does not mean he has good enough visision.

He is a workhorse by and large. Its why during his tenure at utd he has been the definition of a bit part player

tretty just doesn't think it's possible for us to have good midfielders unless they cost £35m
=======================================
How many of our midfeilders cost 35 million?

How much did hargo cost? Not 35 mil
Keane? Not 35 mil
Scholes? Not 35 mil.

No it wasn't, the league was the most important trophy and the win against Chelsea won it for us.

So now you're ridiculing him for scoring a winning goal and getting us two points? Wow, really mature stuff there.

And? None of these things means he has good technical ability.
.............................

Limited technical ability but still scores very important goals for us. Whilst working his boll*x off to win every ball.

Like I said, certainly not average.

==================================

In your opinion. CL final is always biggest game of season to anyone with half a brain though.

imited technical ability but still scores very important goals for us. Whilst working his boll*x off to win every ball.
======================================

Anyone can put effort in. And he has scored importan goals in one season in 6, not exactly consistant.

Very much avaerage. Could release him and it wouldnt effect us much. Wrokhorses like him with no technical abbility are ten a penn.

Extremely average.

Park is a top player...scores goals too..if he was italian you would all love him

posted on 18/6/11

He is south korean. Thats foreign isnt it? I thought that was the benchmark for people accusing people of thinking that players are amazing. he is foreign, now its because he isnt italian? Ridiculous. I wouldnt think he was amazing whether he was from italy, spain or andorra. It deosnt matter, because his footballing ability is limited, thats all that counts.

nah Park is a top player..its good to have different opinions on things tho

Get back to the real world, you've gotta stop playing football manager in your head.

Luckily we have a manger that does live in the real world, which is why Park will be in our team for the near future, whether you like it or not.

==========================================
Whats football manager got to do with thinking an average player who runs a lot with no skill, guile or technical ability is average?

Nothing, thats what.

posted on 19/6/11

I'm sorry but I cannot understand how people think we can get away with not buying a creative midfielder.

If Park could fulfill such a role do you not think the manager would have tried him there already? He is exactly what we don't need in that position - someone who puts the head down and feels the need to urgently pass the ball forward, irrelevant of players in space sideways or behind.

We simply cannot continue saying that the players we already have can come good and make our midfield great again.
