"then they lost to ghana but cheated their way through"

All teams cheat mate, gaining yards at a throw, encroaching at a free-kick, shirtpulling, diving, feigning injury, elbowing opponents, time wasting blah blah blah...they are all acts of cheating!

The high profile nature of Uruguay's win seems to have caused horror amongst some fans...why? We would be applauding if it was our team, well I would anyway! Suarez did what 99% of players would do and he was punished accordingly...if you have a problem then it should be with the rules (or lack of them) that allowed this situation to happen and eventually led to Uruguay progressing, not with the team itself

If Uruguay were the only team to have ever cheated at football then I could understand the beef, but they're not, so get over it!

Great come back ...

As good as yours?

Ah, so Kenny's propensity for overpaying for over-rated footballers is fair game, but Harry's financial dabblings not. Cheers for clearing that up, Devonshire...

Sure, mock Harry...I care little, I'm not touchy like you....just that your comment wasn't very funny. Thats all. Try better next time, maybe take your time to think up something funny, test it on a few friends, before putting it out there

I only feel happy if we win fairly

It’s possible (though stretching credibility a bit) that you were as unhappy with Scholes for doing exactly the same thing against Fulham as Suarez did against Ghana (I wonder how many posts you’ve made referring to him “cheating”?). But what’s absolutely certain is that Scholes wasn’t demonised for it in anything like the same way as Suarez was. Nor Phil Neville, when he did it in the derby a few years ago.

The “goodies” in this pantomime farce that Sky and the tabloids are turning the game into are always English. The “baddies” are usually southern European, or south American.

Fair play to you Vidic. Scholesy must have kept you buty then, because if memory serves,, his career also included a couple of "hand of God'" attempts, of the Maradona variety.

"buty"??? = "busy"

Why do the media keep saying Suarez and Rooney are in great form when they are not scoring?

Christ, is he still going on about Suarez...

Surely there must be something more interesting in your life to do?

He got sent off for one of them. But they were all in harmless areas of the pitch.

Rooney isn`t an out and out striker, but still a hell of a play maker....lots of goals come off his hard work and unselfishness...can`t compare the two players...I would always go with my pal Wayne...oh yeah!

Based on the above description you could definitely compare the 2 players.

Rooney is no better than Suarez in terms of antics

And as far as managerial misdemeanours go I've never heard of anything worse than over £200000 in tax evasion but if you were to believe the tabloids multiple championship winning manager Capello is the devil and 'Arry is the messiah

Come on Rooney is an angel compared to Suarez.

The thing is, if Rooney and Suarez were rubbish, no one would care one bit. It's the fact they are so good (both of them) that all this sort of stuff gets dredged up...

then they beat south korea, fair enough, south korea would be sniffing around the europa league places in holland. then they lost to ghana but cheated their way through and then they were easily beaten by holland, the third or fourth best international team.

--------

They were beaten by Germany not Holland, and even then it wasn't 'easily'.

i am not saying that international football is easy, I am saying that the premier league is harder than international football, which is why he is struggling to score at the moment. he is still a good player though.

----------------

Fair enough, but we were talking about whether international football is a step up from playing in the Dutch league. Both are a step up IMO. The Dutch league is weak.

Rooney's hard to like at times as well. There's definitely a feeling of 'oh christ, here we go again' among reds when he steps out of line.

But when Suarez takes criticism there seems to be a blanket refusal to accept any wrongdoing on his part whatsoever, it's a strange one.

Sorry that was in reply to a post about the two players antics about 5 above. Looks a bit odd out context.

If the LFC manager says Suarez is an angel I guess it must be accepted.....
BUT I DO NOT.... 'tis the el diablo in disguise!

It baffles that a player like Rooney, who not long ago got 40 goals or something near that in one season, when mainly playing as the top striker, is being made to do all the leg work and creation in CM or wide areas.

Sir Alex likes to move his players aropund and many have the ability to play several positions but with Rooney its taking it too far. Sure he can play CM, LW, RW but play him as FWD and you get goals.

Its not as if tUtd have too much to worry about, they are still in great form...and City have only dropped 4 points so any team would struggle to keep pace. It defenitely stems from Utds lack of quality in CM...funny how Cleverly is seen as the messiah in CM, when he has played just a handful of games.

If Berba & Rooney were played together most of the time i think that United would be much stronger.....but the loveof the 433/4231/451 seems to restrict the attacking nature of teams and a lot of players in the modern game are being played out of position and a lot of decent strikers left on the bench.
