Le Tissier/Shearer both very talented players who had they moved to United/Liverpool/Arsenal.. would have no doubt won countless trophys
I'm too young to remember Glenn Hoddle, but from watching videos the bloke was just utter class! ooozed so much ability from both feet!
He played for us in our 2nd 'glory' years, but any player that would have went to a top club would have won more, thats standard
Wes Brown, John O'Shea, average players! won titles
Thats all
Serious Thudd out

*trophies.
Are you agreeing that he made a mistake by staying at Spurs?
trophies
Now that was my own mistake for quick typing! but getting spelling/grammar tips from you of all people is just so ironic
Not at all, he loved the club and spent his best years playing with a great team! why leave when you enjoy your football.
Shearer won the title with Blackburn, scored loads of goals and moved sideways to join Newcastle (yes his home town club)..
Footballers normally stay at clubs where they're happy
Eh I agree with THudd to a point. Footballers that do that now are a rare breed. @Chronicles: Not at all, David May won medals, and most Utd fans will look at you quizzically when you mention him. Ask a Saints fan about Le Tiss, and they go all misty eyed. That is kind of awesome. It's an ok point of view if you view trophies as the be all and all, but they're the kind of fans that generally I can't be doing with. That's not why any real fan supports their club, otherwise there'd be no fans of most sides.
Bunsen
Fooballers in Hoddles era played for the game, and not for the money!
I can only think of a handfull of players in todays game where they have been loyal, Ledley King, John Terry, ... Scholes, Giggs, Tony Adams ect!
Saying a player would benefit more from leaving a club where he won medals is a wonderful hindsight to have
Jack Wilshere will be next in that list.
Wilshere is a good player, but not great.. yet!.
I can't see him leaving Arsenal
I'm too young to remember Glenn Hoddle

Not that much anymore Bubbles
Hoddle was arrogant, and when you see some of the goals he scored they were nothing shot of amazing
But a great player, one of few that would survive in the modern game

Great Player, poor manager
When Liverpool ruined thee league and brought about the decline of English football we lost all our great players, took years for the league to recover from the damage Liverpool did
You are still Baby Thudd
Agreed fantastic player, average manager.
Thing is where would a "step up" have been in the early/mid 80s? Spurs were challenging consistently in the top 5 and only Liverpool and Everton won more trophies than Spurs in that period - Utd and Arsenal were average... Would Hoddle have moved to Merseyside? Can't see him in a Liverpool shirt as they always seemed pretty prejudiced towards flair players from the south (John Barnes excepted).
He only moved to Monaco for a big last pay day and the opportunity to play European football.
As manager I thought he did alright with England, and laid the groundwork at Chelsea, was okay at Saints but struggled at spurs - I can't recall much of his time with Wolves but he wasn't a bad manager by any means.
