But he is..always states he is content with what he has got, and says he doesn't need to make big improvements or changes BUT HE DOES.
Evidently that's his management style. I like it, others hate it. I would rather him be like that than be like "Billy job done" and moan every day about not having good enough players and no money.
The wage budget in isolation is meaningless.
Look at the attendance and revenues and compute the wage bill as a percentage thereof.
Leeds fans have been told to pay Prem prices to get Prem football. For how long must this be paid before actually getting Prem football?

Dickov, Bannan, Livermore, McSheffrey, Sam, Brown, Watt, Bruce, OBrien, Paynter, Capaldi, Dickson, Gonzalez
-----------------------
I'll list who and why of them aren't failures.
Bannan, was class when he came on as a sub but didn't start enough so he got Villa to recall him.
Sam
Very good player to have in the squad as you can call upon him and he'll put in a decent performance more often than not.
Brown
Shakey start to the season but since Forest he's been playing very good. Even LIW admitted he played decent yesterday which practically means he played world class.
Watt
Was very good for us it wasn't Grayson's fault he got injured was it?
Also, Capaldi was cover for the injuries to our resident RB and LB and RM and CM and CB and goalkeeper Andy Hughes and Aidy White.
And who the **** is Dickson. In the pat several years no Dickson has played for us.
Sorry Jonny this is all the managers team. Bates cannot be blamed as you seem to suggest. The % of turnover may be lower against other clubs, ie we have 55-60% but that is how it should be. A club spending over 100% of turnover on wages, ie Ipswich, Leicester, Bristol etc is madness. But if they are spending same as us on wages in £ then your arguement is crap.
Right Cas and we are happy to have Bates or else we would have Ridsdale.
Jonny, I didn't mention Risdale why bring him into this. All I stated was the wage bill is very competitive and it's up to the manager to utilise this. You can't blame Bates for providing actual more cash by increasing off field activities. Your the idiot here.
'No Frank I dont, Kasper was so amazingly overrated was a decent shot stopper but command and communcation was non existant. Hence at the end of the season he was sold off.'
Didn't we get him on a free from NC? He was highly rated, but SG realised the above and didn't offer him an extended contract. Was he wrong to get him in the first place or to get rid of him. In my view he was right on both counts.
he was right on both counts because like bates said he made it clear he wouldnt sign an extension to his deal and Kasper>casper. we made a profit and have got lonergan on a long term deal.
Cas, where did the money for the improvements to the East Stand and the other facilities come from? Was it the from the sales of players, or the season ticket prices? Maybe it was a loan. What do you think the payback period would be for the money spent? Only after that can it make any profit that can be put back into the team. Or if it is a loan who did he borrow the money from and at what interest rates? Does this put us into debt? So many questions I know but you seem to have your finger on the pulse of the club, and it business dealings, wage bill etc.Who is the idiot? Me maybe or Jonny?
Somma and Nunez are decent signings, altho he doesnt play them cos he's thick
Thanks for offering me as an aletrnative GBG!
Cas, you will probably be a Bates-apologist until the day he goes and maybe thereafter and thus the following is a discussion for the benefit of others.
Your evaluation of what our wage bill should be is just another way of defenidng him.
This thread is about whether Simon Grayson is able to sign players he wants. Everything, yes everything, that has taken place at Leeds United clearly demonstrates that SG has not been able to sign who he wants. Whether you or any of us think that is so we can have the appropriate wage bill is not the point. Flawed logic like that is the same as "if you don't like Bates, would you prefer Ridsdale" hence that reference.
Just about every signing Leeds has made over the last 3 or 4 seasons has been made very late in their respective transfer windows. By definition that means we have signed "leftovers." Most signings have been frees with a large number being players well over 30. How else do you explain our not making "early signings?"
Do you honestly believe these are SG's first, second or third choices?
Ken Bates talks (a lot eh?) about transfer kittys being available to SG and then tells us the squad is too big within weeks/months after decent fees received from players sold this past summer. How do you explain that Cas (or anyone else)?
I have been disappointed with SG's sub choices and timing and his selections at times but I do recognize that the poor man is working under a very difficult chairman. So, not that easy to evaluate the job he has done/is doing, is it?
