someone will buy another scottish team more than likely it'll be aberdeen, think of the oil etc up that way, also with Trump opening his golf course up there some of his 'associates' might fancy investing in something up that neck of the woods

Cheers for the one star

Perhaps should have made one about the tax case or the Ra to get a better rating.

I would actually like that to happen. Not another club winning the league, but a three-horse race.

Ghodfather, interesting thought that, could happen. I'd love to see another big club emerging. With as much resources as ourselves and really challenging.

Whats going to have more drama a title run in with someone like Dundee United, Hibs or Celtic?

If Aberdeen were to challenge then yes. It would be great for the league to have a third title challenger and we'd no doubt benefit. But it wouldn't add to my excitement.

That's what makes me laugh, all the smaller clubs say that Old Firm supporters are glory hunters and then they don't go to game because : "we never win anything!".

I would like to see someone else at least challenge and it wouldn't kill me to see any team bar Celtic pip us to the post. It's extremely boring with only 2 teams challenging.

Love someone giving this a 1 star, FFS!

Zach I couldn't ever see Old Firm deteriorating so much that they both finish behind any of the current crop. There would need to be a significant improvement there from the others. For a start, I think there is too many league clubs in Scotland for the population.

if romanov hadn't raped hearts and both sides of the old firm (and english teams) hadn't torn apart john parks hibs side then i think they could have.

i think if romanov were to sell hearts to somebody who invested time and money in the club then yes they could.

Also depends on rangers tax case.

Say they were to go bust, then they would sell the stars, which would in turn severly weaken celtic and allow hearts, motherwell dundee utd etc to close the gap

Or stolen John Parks for that matter Pearson.

But yes Hibs had the making of a very good team

Whitty (when he was good)
Murray
Brown
Thompson
Riorden
OConner
Fletcher

Thats the foundation of a good team

Aint ever gonna happen unfortunately, which is a shame to be honest!!

I can remember when Celtic was able to stop 10 in a row and it was a fantastic feeling!!!

How good would it be if you were a diehard hearts/hibs/dons fan, supporting your team for years with very little to shout about and then BOOM!!!! your team wins the league!!

I'd be happy for them (maybe not if it was hearts)

i agree with the thought. Hearts pushed n it was gd for a bit. I hate hearts tho so f... Them. Too many fair weather fans in scotland.

This will never happen in my life time, or probably at all. Firstly the country is far too small to accomodate the proportion of the population who live in areas miles from Glasgow, but choose to support the OF. This significantly stifles the support and income which clubs require to orchestrate any type of challenge.

Further to this the manner in which the television revenue is distributed makes it impossible for the clubs outside the OF to operate on a level playing field. Now I recognise that the OF fans on here will say that this is a fair split of revenue as they are the main attraction for any TV deal. I agree with the sentiment, however you can not then state that the other teams are diddies and the league is not competitive. These are the fundemental reasons why our league is mocked by the English.

I hugely dislike individuals who choose to gloryhunt, however at least some of those go to the game. The ones who don't and turn their back on their local clubs are guilty of killing Scottish football.

I was happy when Aberdeen and Dundee United were either winning or challenging for the league. When Hearts nearly won it I felt sorry for them although delighted we won it. That same summer Souness came to Ibrox and altered the landscape. Can't see it happening again until the big money system falls apart down south and we benefit from the fallout, just like Rangers did when the English clubs were banned from Europe and many of their 'stars' came up here.

I doubt it. I think the quality of the Old Firm will continue to decline and while our better players and younger players will continue to go south, the size of the support would mean we could continue to offer better wages than anyone else.

Still, with the quality drop and resulting drain of talent to the South, the points difference will get closer.

Accusing people of "glory-hunting" is fair, but surely the supporters of other clubs who do not attend games on the basis of "we never win anything" can be accused of the same thing. When Dundee United won the Scottish Cup in 2010 and when Hibernian won the League Cup in 2007, both clubs brought a massive support down to Hampden. Perhaps more of them should turn out for league fixtures.

lets see what happens to your club this season berz before getting ahead of yourselves and asking if there will be a club to break the OF dominance.

There is a bit of an issue with the so-called "smaller" clubs charging far too much for a very much inferior product.
If they take the gate price down to a relaistic price to attract more fans an thereby safeguard their future and generate more long-term gains, then it's going to hit their coffers in the short-term and may impact on the quality of the team, which in turn would turn fans away from the gate.

they're stuck between a rock and a hard place...

The 80's and early 90's were the golden age of competition in Scotland. Only 19 non-OF teams have ever won the Scottish Championship.

A combination of Bosman, keeping all the gate receipts and the lack of sharing TV resources have killed the Scottish game stone dead in terms of competition. The OF have ten times the resources of any of the others. As a business you have killed the competition and turned them into diddy teams that you crow about when you best them.

Why would a non-OF fan pay good money to watch his/ her team when there is practically sod all chance of winning anything
