Thanks TOOR for not ridiculing my comment. It seem tonight that no-one knew exactly what they should be doing.
And if we think Gerrard is going to return and all will be fantastic, he will need match time and need to find the most productive position for himself. He can't run all over the pitch anymore.
I'm not sure Righteous. I agree we are not far off and haven't been playing too badly but I fear for the tactic we emply with Suarez upfront on his own. He drops deep or goes wide and everytime we get an attack and have the ball out wide the winger has to play it back to the full back and we constantly have to go back and across with nobody in the box.
I think our tactics are a problem and are late substitutions are costing us points. However, you're right, we should wait until the frustration settles down before passing judgement.

Are you lost?
you implied you can go through my posting history if you so wish and you'll see im as strong a liverpool fan as anyone here, i just dont post often due to time constraints, not wanting to bother with the wum fest that articles sadly often seem to become and the rest of the time points have already been made.
For what its worth i agree with you that Carroll should be played when Downing is playing, it could take just one assist+ goal from the pair to spark them into life. Sadly I just don't feel like that's going to happen, due to the way we play among other factors. I've got more patience with Carroll being a young lad etc but Downing just frustrates me because he has it, see some of the runs hes made with the shots hitting the post etc, he just seems to have no inclination to do it anymore and often seems to stand admiring his pass rather than busting a gut to get into a helpful position.
Thats just my two pennies worth, I'll try not to bother you again when I do post by disagreeing with you or offering a different opinion

Still here? Did Chelsea have a game tonight? Do you know the score?
Weren't you that guy giving it stacks about Suarez and now look very silly after the Terry news? Or do I have that mistaken aswell?

You're right. Downing needs to bust a gut, go that extra mile, or bring something more to the game, a shot a goal would be good.
What exactly did I say about Suarez?
Care to tell me what you're on about Columbo?
TOOR, apology accepted, it's just not exactly heartwarming to get that when you're an rregular poster not in the ja606 'club' so to speak
*iregular i really cant type tonight
It's actually 'irregular' but I'll let you off, for my mistake earlier.
I agree about the late substitutions, it is frustrating when you can see the game slipping away and we leave it until 70-75 mins.
If it was up to me I would be changing at 55-60, and what's the point of giving Carroll 5 mins?
Tactics? I am not so sure. I think the tactic fails because the midfield is not quite working correctly, but that's hardly surprising when we have so many players who have played so little together in that area.
Gerrard is not a solution to all our problems but you know he would be busting a gut to support Suarez and get in the box.
Henderson just doesn't have that confidence yet, if he ever will. Shelvey does but he makes poor decisions because of his age, like when he hit a tame shot tonight when we had about 4 men in the box and Wigan on the back foot.
Again I thought you were somebody else, there was a poster on 606 with a similar name to yours but I just can't remember it right. He spent most of his time on the United board, so they might be able to fill me in.
You are very much welcome on this site and your opinion is worth the same as mine or anybody else's. Accept Mr Chelsea's. His opinions are worth 0.63 of an opinion.
That shot from Shelvey at the end, destoyed me. I nearly took a run head first into the wall but I composed myself just in time.
I thought Henderson was very good tonight. I think our tactics are in large our main problem. Suarez upfront on his own, means nobody in the box and wingers redundant. Which leaves the centre midfield who were too far back and attacking midfield who was anonymous, which left our two full backs our best threat and best players, again.
Henderson is very economical but he needs to play forwards more often, its a confidence thing with him though, he is growing and will be a top player.
I don't think Kenny's plan is/was to play Suarez on his own, he just doesn't have the faith in Carroll and doesn't have Gerrard available.
It's not the fault of tactics that Kuyt hasn't scored a goal this season and neither has Downing.
Certain players need to step up, I think Kuyt is pretty much finished to be honest. He is 32 at the start of next season and needs replacing.
Kuyt tonight made me angry and sad in equal measure
I'm sorry to say, I agree with you about Kuyt. He has been one of my favourite Liverpool players but he just doesn't fit this tactic Kenny uses and looks to have started to regress.
I think Kenny needs to put faith in the players he bought. And faith in the system he bought them for.
If Downing is gonna play, then Carroll has to play in my opinion. If things aren't working, we need to change it earlier.
I think Carroll definitely needs a run of games.
Surely these two home games he should be playing.
Blackburn are terrible and Newcastle are on a bad run and we always beat them both at Anfield.
Carroll needs 180 mins, get himself a couple of goals and kickstart his career.
i thought Downing was a hug the tough line man but time and time again he does not take his man on and often drifts in, looks like our search for a winger is still on.
I am one of those not convinced of Herdo yet, but Downing makes Herdo look like the signing of the year. He has 0 goals or assists. We need a striker pronto!
