Arturo Lupoli. Him and Bendtner were exceptional for the reserves but he never lived up to his potential.
"I mean what young player were you convinced was destined for greatness then faded away?"
I would have to say myself.
Franny Jeffers!!! Arsenal legend!
I disagree Jermaine failed to fulfil his potential, he never had enough potential to make it as a top player.
He wasn't suited to Arsenals style anyway, he prefers playing for Stoke
Vela
--------------------
I'll second that.
Barazite and Muamba were both billed as potential stars as young Gooners.
Fair enough Muamba has a Premier League career and I think Barazite is playing in Austria and doing well, but both were most definitely seen as potentially big players for Arsenal.
What about Aliadiere? He was floaty around for years without doing anything interesting.
reyes. ok he wasnt that young but i still feel that had he stayed with us he'd be a regular in the spanish set up instead of pedro. the guy was destined for great things...
Reyes, Vela are the main 2 Bendtner i suppose to an extent but i was never convinced by him
Sebastien Svard.
Ryan Garry was a good prospect, but injury ruined him.
Niccoló Galli would have been a quality player
Reyes
I blame the Nevilles for messing him up.When he first came he was brilliant!
Vela
Probably not cut out for the prem. Should cut our losses.
Anyone remember that English kid in Holland who was being hyped as the next big thing then disappeared?
In the past:
Perry Groves
Andy Cole
Kevin Campbell
Niall Quinn
In Arsene era:
Anelka
Quincy
Reyes
Boa Morte
Diaby
JET
Volz
Pennant
Players I thought would never make it and was proved right:
Vela
Bendtner
Denilson
Jeffers
R.Wright
Aliadiere
Lupoli
Jenius, you thought Perry Groves was destined for greatness?
Andy Cole had a decent enough career I think!!
"you thought Perry Groves was destined for greatness?"
Yeah, I think I was abt 10 or 11 years old when I first saw this really fast winger in a reserves game. it was all down hill from then on. Thank god for Rocky.
"Andy Cole had a decent enough career I think"
You could say that abt Anelka, Kevin, Boa Morte. Not for us. So their careers were wasted
I guess Martin Hayes could be included then. His breakthrough season was good, scored 20+ goals. Then I think he scored about 2 goals in the rest of his Arsenal career, before bumming around for the rest of his career.
Martin Hayes. Steve Bould with hair.
But there was nothing special about him. No skill or anything. Perry Groves was really funny. He used to run down the wing really fast and come to a complete halt because he didn't know what he was doing. A white Eboue on the wing. So many of us were like that in junior school.
Phillipe Senderos.
He formed a solid partnership with Kolo in 05/06 during Sol's absence, was a mainstay of our CL run to the final and seemed a young defender destined for greatness. Now look at him.
Jose Antonio Reyes, Stewart Robson and Stephen Hughes.
Nacer Barazite and Havard Nordtveit are more recent names to the list, but seeing as they never really made the first team, whilst their time at Arsenal ultimately ended with disappointment, it's still not as disappointing as the previous three players mentioned.
