Congratulations Dun Utd supporter! Agree Thomson would be a good buy and money should not be a problem if you are losing Goodwillie. What about the host of other players rumored to be on their way, Conway, Daly etc. Sorry to lose them? Or should the club try harder to keep them?

Glad you have joined up here. Hope we find many more coming over to this sight.

On Thompson, I think United maybe looking for a guy who can put the ball in the net more often. Ideal scenario would be Daly to have the mobility of Thompson and Thompson to have the goal scoring touch of Daly.

Of all the players in the targetman mould, the one who I thought was a quality signing was Jack de Gier. Jimmy Calderwood signed him for Dunfermline. Think if we find a player like him we would be on to a good thing.

Conway was at Tannadice this morning and to be fair him and Kovacevic will be the biggest missed. Jimmy was poor this season. Prince was good in patches. Dods hardly played but we need to get another centre-half who will defend 1st and play 2nd. Severin is a bombscare at the back.

Hi guys, great to see others over here. Have read some of your posts before Arabs4ever on otherside? lol.
Drunk, I am assuming you are still on a high having pipped your rivals at the death!!
I only get to see United when they are on the box now, having had to move into Sassanachland 5 years ago, so rely a lot on what is said in the 606 forums to keep up to date....and you all do a great job of that thanks.
Now, am I correct in thinking that Goodwillie is the only player we will get money for, the rest being out of contract? If so, it does limit us quite a bit as I ssume any transfer fee we get for Goodwillie will be used for debt. Daly seems to be one of those players you either love or hate, certainly from the comments on 606, but he does appear to chip in with his share of goals. Kova....has it been decided he is leaving? I was under impression there was a good chance he would stay. He is my type of player, so I hope so. Conway will be a huge loss and was kind of hoping we would be in for Flood as a replacement, but read he was in talks with Aberdeen. We definately need a strong centre half and one who knows hs job is to defend. Kenneth was a player I had huge hopes for, but for me he makes too many silly decisions and Severin I have not seen enough of to comment.
I still would love to see Thompson donning a tangerine top again. I think because he is mobile and has pretty quick feet for a big guy, it has worked against him. Play him right up front and he will get goals...I am sure of it.
Unfortunately, I think United will be trawling the lower divisions for freebies that can be paid peanuts and although we have been quite successful in doing that in past, with players that are leaving, we will need experience, we do not have a couple of years for them to be the next Conway etc.
Next year is a huge year for United, get the right experience, mixed with the good young players we have and it could be a great season. If we don't........

Like this layout - much better than the others on offer, just need to get some others across, excluding Taff!

I expected Gomis and Conway to go but thought Buaben might have stayed for another year or so, Dods wouldn't play enough next season so not worthy of a contract in my opinion but I am sorry to see Kovacevic go, I too am exiled in England and only see United on the box but i've always been impressed by him in the big games and if he was meant to be a centre half it's a shame he never got the opportunity to prove himself there.

I don't think i'd want Thompson back if Goodie does go we have a ready made replacement in Russell so we would need him, I think a creative midfielder like Neil from Accies would be an ideal signing but that went out the window when he signed a new deal, Willo coming back would be excellent, but we still need a spine to the team with Jimmy and Prince going so somebody to play alongside Robertson to boss the midfield.

I like this site. Need more to sign up though for it to work.
Big Steven Thomson is going to St Mirren so you can count him out. I am never a fan of players returning as they are never as good second time round. However saying that I think Daly may help Kenneth at the back. Not sure about flood though. I certainly wouldn't want United to break their wage structure for him.
Russell will obviously replace Goodie with Hilson as back up. Douglas may be brought in to replace conway, Scotty Robertson will get his own position now rather than being fitted around Gomis and Bauben.
All in all it should still be a decent team for next season although we may be a bit light when injuries strike.

Thank you Sir Fused, if it hadn't been for your post on the 606 I wouldn't have known about this site. I like this lay out - nobody likes change.
