I agree with hope that Pak's best chance is the first test when England will be re-acclimatising to Ajmal, they have never faced Rehman before and the same with Cheema or Junaid so England in the first test adapting to conditions and Pak bowling threat may just give Pak a chance.

England only stuggle in Sub Cont conditions when it comes to the shorter form but when it comes to test they dont have that worry as there is no run rate, no need to smack the spinner so conditions won't such an headache. I still think England will take this 1-0.

"Minnow bashing?
Last 18 months paks have payed in tests with Aussies, Saffers, Lanka, England – India we don’t play. Unbeaten against Aussies, saffers and Lanka and lost to the english in england…….. Minnow bashing? "

Unbeaten against Australia? Except for the test you lost, and the three you lost in Aus. Drawing a bunch of test series against better teams at home then spanking the Bangladeshis is nothing to write home about.

Duncan we beat NZ in there backyard which was something that Aussies could not do at home so does NZ fall into your minnow category too?

I doubt anyone will take this Eng team seriously unless they win in Asia.
The dingos on the other hand can occasionally punch above their weight over there.

Yes, Australia should have beaten NZ comfortably.

We drew the series to the aussies in the last 18 months. I think for pakistan to go unbeaten vs lanka, saffers and aussies is a remarkable achcievement given the circumstances we found ourselves in during the last 3 years - Problems on/off field, a muppet at the helm, quality batmen in and out of squad due to politics and so on…. Pakistan cricket has moved 10 steps ahead with those results and I’d take a drawn series vs england too. Pakistan are consolidating at the moment without being too risky or all out attacking, hopefully that will come in the next year or two

That is not going unbeaten, unless every test in the series was a draw.

True, I should have made myself clear - was talking in terms of series rather than individual games.

I don't think England have won in India in a test series since 1996, but since then the results are always tight - either 1-O to India or drawn. We beat Pakistan IN Pakistan in 2001 but our results are much better than against India. I'd dispute the notion that England are not much good in Asia - we don't really play that many series against either India OR Pakistan (or even Sri-Lanka) and usually they are either 2 or 3 test series which is hardly an indicator of how good a test team is. However, this is a neutral location and I'd take England for this with present form etc.

Drbantam you did lose to Pak 2-0 in 2006 and in 2010 while you did dominate us completley in the first 2 tests we did fight back and won at the Oval and then not for a world record partnership with Trott and Broad things may have been so different.

England will be pulverized in subcontinent. In my memory they have never done well in subcontinent except under Hussain.
I agree that they are no 1 but weakness in subcontinent still exist and that what separates them from Invincible Aussies and Windies of yesteryear.

We are playing in UAE though - thats the middle east, our batsmen have virtually no weakness, our bowlers may struggle but much less than yours

Most of the batsmen have struggled against Pakistan spin in subcontinent and same will be the case with English Batmen this winter. Our bowling lineup is well equipped to take wickets on dead tracks.
This will be an exciting battle but I think 3-0 Pakistan.
