Our wage cap is £100k p/w. Van Persie allegedly gets paid £90k p/w on his current deal. If you honestly think that Walcott deserves to earn near enough to van Persie, then I suggest you have a word with yourself.

Oh I don't think he should be earning 85k at all, if we're using that ratio. He should be earning around 50k. Which by my calculation is 5k less than he's earning right now

It would be foolish to offload him now though. He's still 22. Has so much more to offer. I guess we're all frustrated because he gives us glimpses of what he can offer.

But far too rarely.

I guess it doesn't help when no one from our midfield can play any sort of ball behind the full backs. 4/5 times Arteta and Ramsey tried to and all times they failed to give that perfect weighted pass.

Of course, the one time he was played through, he effs it up.

Ah. That's football I guess.

"We understand football and don't let loyalties blinker us in other words."

Couldn't have said it any better.

People let their hearts get in the way of their head.

Really, we're taking anything written in the Star as gospel now? The most vile and racist paper in the country? Makes Murdoch seem positively saintly.

No, but even if it's hypothetical it's still worthy of a debate.

I don't think we should off load him. He could still do a job for us. But I do think he is getting way too big for his boots.
He needs someone to bench.

Guy thinks he's a world class player.

Well, just because I don't think Walnut is worth 85k (or even 50k) that doesn't mean I want Lennon - he's another one who goes missing when the going gets tough.

He probably should have asked forthiscontract last season when he actually looked a decent player.

...

True, the worst time to ask for a raise is when you do something which has the crowd putting their heads in their hands, like race through for a one-on-one with the chance to put us two goals up...and then choke.

He should have either asked last season, or waited until he put in a brilliant performance or two this season and then asked.

The timing is poor. It's like a salesman who screws up a sale that would have clinched his target, who then goes off and says to his boss, 'By the way, I want a bigger comission. Let's talk.' Your boss would laugh in your face.

If Lennon asked for £85k per week, I'm sure you'd give the same reactions, Spurtle.

Yes but he hasn't, and he's actually been playing well unlike Walcott which makes the demands even more laughable. Getting too big for his boots is Walcott. Thinks he's something special just cause he's found he's starting most games.

Since when has common sense been part of Walcott's skills?
Guess his intelligence on the pitch, has been transferred over to his life.

Why so much hate on Walcott? Yes he missed a great chance yesterday and had some really bad games this season but he's stats are good. Last 18 months - Theo Walcott: 46 Starts 15 Goals 16 Assists. Gareth Bale: 54 Starts 18 Goals 10 Assists??? Yet Bale is considered a genius.
