I will agree with you SS.
Bring in the next generation and let them learn on the job.
Sad thing is, that will never happen, as no team manager would be allowed to drop ST, RD, VVS, ZK. They are the commercial lifeline on the BCCI, with sponsorship deals et al.
drop a couple of them for sure. look at yadav, he looks very decent indeed.
drop gambhir and VVS for sure, maybe even ST himself.
move them on before you become another australia and plummet down the rankings
they are just not trying hard. I seriosly wouldnt mind them losing all away series but the lack of effort they are puuting in is disheartening. One thing for sure is i have not seen a worse flat track bully than sehwag who's ave from now is 29. I will only count his away averages from now on. Really deserve a whitewash
and agree now we shud drop these players including the 2 legends. The reoson why we have experianced players in the team is so that they can help the youngsters but none even care. seems like they are playing for records
English series marked the decline and the tour Down Under marks the end of an era (not a very long one though).
From now on, we will see more competitive battle between bat and ball and it will be a prerequisite to have 2 world class bowlers minimum to become a top team.
Next 5 years will be interesting, this is the way I see it………………
Eng – No concerns
Saffers – no concerns (kallis and smith maybe?)
Aussies – rebuilding, but should be ok
Paks – rebuilding, should be ok because of bowlers, although batting suspect without misbah and Younis?
Lanka – worry about them without jayawardene and sangakkara
India – Take out 4 top batsmen and zaheer out – huge task for them to rebuild. The biggest out of all teams by a mile.
For the first time since 2007 and I hopeful that Australia may be able to regain the status of the best team in the world. Even though Aus were ranked No.1 until 2009 it was very obvious that they were not the best team in the world, now things are looking up.
As for India, everyone knew it was going to be tough once the big guns started ageing. Now it looks nigh on impossible for India to seriously challenge the for the top 3 for the conceivable future.
Time to bring in Pujara, Rohit Sharma and Rahene into the line up. Ashwin has been very disapointing. He needs to be replaced by Ojha
i think india are really going to struggle and by that i mean teams like west indies will start becoming challenging for india to beat. dhoni and the youngsters have a hell lot of things to do. his calmness will not take india anywhere and now needs to start playing those big innings which players like clarke, strauss, or misbah have played. players like rohit, pujara needs to be kept for only tests so that their technique is gd and not scratchy.
The 4:0 thrashing in England did not set the alarm bells ringing? I actually was looking forward to this series between Australia and India, and realised that both teams had a lot to prove after serious thrashings by England in the Test Match form of the game, but I did not realise that India were going to be this bad, given that Australia are also bad. Shocking performance by India, but good to see positive Test Match cricket being played
To be fair to Australia, we look a far far better team with Mitchell Johnson gone, he was really dragging the bowling attack down.
This needs to happen before the 3rd test.
Laxman - out
Sehwag - out
I cant understand why they are still playing tests. rubbish. O_o
But what astounds me the most is the lack of fight in this Indian team full of legends.

India seem to lose their hearts easily when things arent going right, they need to get stuck in..stick to a plan and dig out median overs instead of dishing out appalling lollypop bowling, was there ever a hostile over bowled today?

I think this current England team will go down as one of the great teams in history, right up there with Australia c. '95-2007, and the great windies team of the 80s.
I see the main challenger being Australia. South Africa are good at the moment, but i don't rate their infrastructure very highly, as far as bringing young players through is concerened. Also, South Africa have 2 great players nearing the end of their careers and i cannot see any replacements who will be able to fill their massive shoes. i also invisage the west indies rising up a little bit. they have found a couple of good young bastmen, and i think will become more competitive in the years to come, without really challenging the best.

i can understand why you say that now neon, and i imagine that is what we would have been saying when australia were first starting out, but if, as i think they will, england dominate for the next 10 years, you might think differently.
