The United team isn't poor (compared to the rest of the league). But it's the poorest in the Premier League Era. I know that sounds strange but we had more or less great sides since 1992 so our standards are pretty high. Proved by our domination.
Best start? We've been poor this season. Played well about 4-5 times. A third rate Swiss team knocked us out of Europe FFS. You lot and Newcastle hammered us. This doesn't happen in a good season for us.
Injuries haven't helped. I think City would struggle without Kompany. We are missing Vidic and Rio misses a lot of games too.
City's title to lose now but I'm confident for the future. We are building a new team again and it takes time.
And we have a young team that will only get better!
looking at Man U you need more than a midfielder.
Rooney will unless you spend big, unless that transfer request was as some of us suspect all about money.
To be honest the City boys are right about the spending talk, we've spent alot in our time and my god some of them have been flops. We're in transition right now, and the best I want for this side is a top 3 finish and if we finish trophyless then I honestly couldn't care less because last trophyless seasons has paid off for the future. It's good enough a young team like ours is still challenging for the title, but if City win the title then fair play they earned it over 38 games.
Cityblueloz, the dude abides!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spending big isn't always the answer. Getting the right player is more important.
Demba Ba was a Free transfer. Torres and Carrol cost 50m n 35m respectively. Which player would you want out of the 3 just now?
Personally, I think with the long term problems with Rio and Vidic not available till August, we need to bite the bullet and get Cahill from Bolton. 8m for a England International defender in his prime. When you consider what you paid for Lescott who I don't rate as highly.
I'd also move for a midfielder. De rossi would be ideal for us but I can see him joining your mob. If not him him then Tiote would be a good choice when he returns from ACON.
Samba is better than Cahill in my opinion, you need a two central midfielders a striker a centre back, you will have to buy quality instead of taking a gamble on an up an comming player.
And champions league quality players cost good money.
We don't need a striker at all.
We have Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov as our main 4. Then Owen and Diouf as our 5th and 6th.
We also have Macheda on loan and a few good young strikers like W Keane and Josh King.
Without the injuries, we wouldn't need a defender either. But sadly we do now.
We need a CB and a Midfielder and a bit of luck.
Samba is better than Cahill in my opinion, you need a two central midfielders a striker a centre back,
------------------------------------
I agree with that, everyone is talking about Cahill and Redknapp is doing his usual wheeling and dealing quietly on Samba. Even though Spurs I don't think will mount a serious title challenge this season the players they have added to the squad last Summer and the proposed players they are being linked with in Jan will put them up there as contenders for next season.
It was only 2 weeks ago United beat Fulham 5-0 and the pressure shifted to City, this is what its going to be like for the rest of the season, a couple of bad results and suddenly United are bottling it, if City have a bad result then City will be bottling it.
But if you take our average points per game of the 2 clubs then City will be finishing on 91 points and United on 86, both of them points totals are capable of winning you the league most seasons.
Up until 3 games ago both teams had only lost 1 match, but everyone knows that winter is a tricky period and points are dropped, just City have a bit more depth than United so have coped a little better. But there is still 28 games to go and anything can happen yet.
You also have Howard Webb and Martin Atkinson.
You also have Howard Webb and Martin Atkinson.

This is where you lose all credibility Boris.
Its been proved countless times that refs don't favour us.
4 Pens have been awarded to opposition at OT this season (2 infront of the Stretty). That's more than City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool.
If anything refs are scared of giving us anything in the knowledge that everybody will label them United fans when in fact they are not.
You've conceded pens because you've commited fouls/handballs in the area, not because referees are against you. For once there seems to be more of a level playing field in that sense but City are getting a player sent off every other game for offences that United players wouldn't even get a yellow card for.
Man City Shaun
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You made a lot of good points there. Agree with it all.
Loads of twists and turns yet.
God forbid if you lost Silva, Kompany or both for rest of season. You do have a great squad but nobody capable of replacing either of those two players.
City have been great this season but have also had the rub of the green with keeping everybody fit.
The title race will be close I reckon. People keep banging on about our away fixtures.
City have some difficult away days too. Everton, Stoke, Arsenal, Newcastle, Swansea (harder than you think).
The league has proved this year....if you are not on your game upsets are likely.
Boris "Inky" Gibson
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its Paranoia Boris.....
United don't get favoured and never have. Its just easier to say that than admit we have been better than most for nearly 20 years.
If you honestly think that the FA employ the best refs but make sure they all favour United then you truly are a bitter.
We forgive you though!
City have been great this season but have also had the rub of the green with keeping everybody fit.
Really? We haven't got enough regular players fit or available to fill the bench on Sunday.
Really? We haven't got enough regular players fit or available to fill the bench on Sunday.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? Besides Mr glass.....Who is missing?
You have had ALL your KEY players fit this season. That has been the difference. Rio has missed half of our games and Vidic has missed more than that. We'd have another 4 or 5 points at least if we had them available.
That's footy though....
As it stands we have Barry suspended, Kolo and Yaya off to the ACON, Balotelli and Hargreaves injured and Tevez trying for a 10' putt on the 5th with Bridghe caddying.
That's not that bad. I wish our injury problems were as bad as yours.
You won't miss Tevez, Bridge or Hargreaves as they haven't been playing for you.
You have Lescott to come in for K Toure and can still field a midfield with the likes of De Jong, Milner, Silva & Nasri.
My heart bleeds for you it really does (sense the sarcasm)
I'm sick of rags complaining about injuries as if no other club has them.
Vidic - admittedly a loss, but...
Fletcher - United fans were trying to sell him on Ebay for £1 just a couple of years ago.
Evans - United fans blame him for everything when he actually plays.
Cleverley - Has played a massive 7 games for the 1st team, hardly part of the fabric of past success.
Smalling - Wouldn't get in the England team if he played for any other club, would be a regular starter for City.
*would'nt be a regular starter for City.
You won't miss Tevez, Bridge or Hargreaves as they haven't been playing for you.

Tevez is still a member of the 1st team squad, De Jong has been injured for half the season and Nasri is injured at the moment.
Tevez is still a member of the 1st team squad
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is he though? Really? He doesn't want to be there. City want him out. He hasn't been injured but still not been picked. You got what you deserved with him though to be fair.
And Nasri has a cold by the way. He'll play sunday.
You are not going to get any sympathy from me sorry. Your owner has gone out and smashed the market to pieces and spent a ridiculous amount of money in such a short time. Deal with it!

We do want Tevez out but he started the season as a first team player and club captain, I doubt anyone could have predicted his treacherous behaviour.

Dunc, he was only on loan at United and they didn't want to offer him a contract whereas City did. You could hardly say there's 'history' there.
