No, the FA set a precedent after the Milijas tackle
I am willing to bet they don't overturn it
Don't see it happening me, not seen any replays and I was sat pretty far away from it, but sounds like Jay Spearing's sending off against Fulham a few weeks back - 9 times out of 10 not a red, but technically, no way the FA could rescind it.
Just too much these days to hope for some common sense refereeing 12 mins into a derby.
Looks like City think it will.

The FA have no credibility after they supported Rooney's appeal. I am afraid Kompany plays for the wrong team and is the wrong nationality.

I suppose it is Chris Foy's fault that Kompany lunged in with both feet off the floor?
it's pretty easy.....don't give the ref the opportunity to send you off. Kompany didn't need to go in like that when there was no immediate danger on the city goal.
Kompany cannot be blamed for a referee's poor decision.
I don't think we would have appealed if it was a 3 match ban as he would have been back for the Liverpool away game. The appeal means he should be available for the first leg though.
How ironic that rags should be commenting on rash rackles on the day that Scholes shuffles out of retirement.
Yet again, he has FA immunity.
Wouldn't suprise me if they hold the appeal tomorrow or on Tuesday, push it forward so he will still miss the Liverpool game. Same as they did with Mario before the derby last season.
The card wont be appealed but even Gallagher said it was harsh especially given the nature of the game.I must admit kompany has got away with some Vidic like challenges this season so he must just cope this one on the chin but it does make the FA and referring stadards look bad.
Foy didnt do refs a favour at all today, whether he followed the law or not.The real question is what will the FA do?especially after Foys performance in the Spurs vs Stoke game and the Chelse vs QPR game.
i think it should have been a yellow. you can see why a red was given but 13 mins into a derby.... first tackle red card... pretty pathetic reffereeing. you have to think though if it wasn't somebody as agile as nani and they didnt jump it would have been a bone crunching tackle ... but still very harsh none the less and.ruined what was going to be a cracking game... and 'my word' city almost clawed back after a pathetic second half display from united !!!
I meant to say the ban wont be reversed
I must say that initially the ref didn't look interested in even giving a foul, didn't see the linesman flag, and I actually thought he'd booked Rooney at first for getting in his face.
Nothing like a ref to ruin a game!

No it won't
Two footed lunge = red card
If Rio had done what Kompany did United fans would feel just as aggrieved and be moaning of an FA conspiracy and ABU refs etc
Anybody bar deluded United fans could see it was never a red. Lunging on the ball isn't an offence, we had a similar situation with Kalou vs Sorenson a few years back.
Football is a contact sport........apparently.
City were robbed today and anyone that says otherwise needs to get checked into their doctors tomorrow for an emergency appointment
Get head out of own backside and view footage
Its not refs ruining a game that is the issue here at all - its players who make these sorts of challenges for the ball who are aware that they are not allowed. Easy to blame a ref. Kompany robbed his own team. Utd could still affored to put the trafford trundler on as a sub and still win the match
Having now seen the tackle again I think City have right to appeal that red card. If Ferdinand or Jones had made a tackle like that the ref would have waved play on and the pundits would have been creaming themselves.
hmmm saying city were robbed is a bit extreme they were outplayed for the majority of it it was only because of that freekick then yet another goal keeping error from us that made city pile on the pressure. but really is it hard to outrun two pensioners in midfield if you're early twenties ? a denied pen against valencia then straight after 3-2 from a dodgy goal
