Expectations

I think we might get a dodgy penalty or something. Maybe it will be when we're 2-0 down, but after being handed a gift of a sending off on Sunday, the ref might be looking to somehow 'balance' this out.

I have a feeling we will get tonked, united don't lose 2 homes games in a row especially to teams like us and blackburn.

Horrible feeling it could be 5 or 6.

Unfortunately, IMO, United will be dissapointed with their second half performance and will want to come out all guns blazing and will not want to slack off.

I think the key is to not concede in the first 20minutes, stay strong as a unit. This will give the players confidence and give us a chance and like you said, we might get a dodgy penalty which could spur us on to get a result.

basically...I think we are going to get totally mullerd - and i MEAN proper battered - could go in to double figures.

united have recently lost 2 home games to mediocre teams - they dont lose very often and I just think the odds are stacked against us getting anything from this game now - united have had their slippery period.

they have something to prove to the 70,000 glory hunters...

Either we'll get battered again with Potato scoring 4 or they'll edge it. Either way I'm already prepared for the stick I'm going to get at work Monday.

P.S. Peter Walton is to be the ref for the match.

Clattenburg has Villa much to the disgust of my immediate boss.

Is your immediate boss a United or Villa fan?

Only a Villa and United fan would have two very different reasons for being disgusted by that!

I think we'll be much tighter at the back as we have been over christmas but that united have just a bit too much quality for us and it will show after their two recent poor performances in the league.

It WON'T be a battering however. My head says 2-0 to them or perhaps 2-1 but as my last prediction for WF's league was correct (2-1 win over Everton) I'm going to be optimistic and formally predict a 1-1 draw with nani to score first and Petrov to equalise for us.

I know it's unlikely but it seems we might just have lost that horrid habit of dropping our heads when we go behind. We came back to win against everton and grabbed a draw aganst macclesfield (we were very unfortunate not to win that one imo) and in both games every man gave his all. Some might not (let's face it ARE not) be good enough for this level but at least everyone is now doing their best for the whole game and that in itself is a step in the right direction.

Owen seems to be getting through to the lads at last and they're showing much more grit than they did early season through to mid december. That gives me hope.

COYWM.

I'll be watching in the pub in Bury.

I am not a glory hunter, I have a huge dong and due to damage to my facial nerve a few years ago, I can't wink!

They're 3 points behind City again, so I reckon they'll tear us new one. Our defence at OT without Gary Cahill is starting to scare me.

With the dingles beating United in their last home game

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

That was 2 years ago and Burnley were at home, relegation must be affecting your mental faculties.

Villa.

Didn't get too much stick when they beat us last month as he was "too shocked they actually won"

The key to this one is to literally just pack our own box with 8 players and then see what N'Gog and Mavies can chase down and create on their own. This is what Blackburn did and the sheer number of bodies (however useless they are) caused problems for United. They aren't as free flowing and good on the ball as they used to be and no longer have the midfielders to pick out a man even if they're marked by 4 players. Blackburn managed it with 3 youth players in their back 4 so let's just hope Owen was watching and tries the same.

It does confuse me that Blackburn are called Dingles.. It's clearly Burnley that have that nickname..

The only connection to Blackburn is that Burnley and their ground use a Blackburn Post Code because of the small size of town it is...

Anyway, I expect nothing from the United game. That way, I can't be disappointed.

Well we're not by anyone other than you lot. I assume the term has just been generalised now into being used by any club who considers its rivals to be a bit more backward than them. West Brom and Birmingham use it for Wolves now too. As usual with football fans the original point has been missed, which is that Emmerdale is exactly the type of insular Yorkshire village Burnley get much of their support from. It is quite annoying to come up with a name designed specifically describe your rivals, and then have it absurdly applied to you.

Anyway I wouldn't expect your pie-eating egg chasers to understand

But clearly I do... Hence my above confirmation..
