Im still trying to workout what this guy IS good at,the amount of excuses people have made up to try and defend the indefensible amazes me,top players don't NEED this that and the other, so they play "well"..they make things happen for themselves..as in life, you get out what you put in..he ain't putting enough in ..full stop...everybody can't be wrong. There is only one person to get him out of this bad spell,him..shaking your head and hands on hips won't do it,or blaming teamates.Only weak people and losers do that Mr. beckford.
Once again John, I have to disagree with you.
He's a natural finisher. He's not a striker to carve out his own chances. He's not a Nugent, he's not a Messi. He's a Javier Hernandez - stand there, get the ball and score.
I think Hernandez would struggle to score in our side, as we don't create enough chances.
well he is not being very natural at the moment..if your happy with his current attitude and body language great..im not, I don't live in the world of its everyone elses fault except me...if he has to have a ball put on a golf tee 6 yards from goal to score, perhaps we have signed the wrong player...The idea leeds created millions of more chances than us is laughable..sorry..but you stick by him,you might even be right...what do I know..
He is a bit of a marmite player, you love him or hate him.
He can pop up with goals Henry would be proud of, but then shank a sitter! The thing I can say is he has a knack of being in the right place at the right time. Would have his lazy bum back tomorrow!
"He sees guys like Gally and Dyer miss absolute sitters of chances, and get their names cheers"
Well to be honest, I'm not sure many are clapping Gallagher at the minute, let alone cheer him. I'm not sure Dyer is that far behind either, with mixed reviews from fans.
The difference? A point you have made yourself; irrelevant of their weak points, Dyer and Gallagher still show passion and effort.
I guarantee if Beckford was running around, chasing down defenders, etc, not only would he get more of the ball, but he would have full support from 99% of fans.
The problem with saying that even a great forward wouldn't be scoring in our team, is that we already have a good one doing it in Nugent who, if not for the wood work on 4 or 5(?) occassions, would be easily on double figures. And to be honest, looking back over his goals, I'm not sure the majority of them would be classed as goals he'd dug out, and certainly at least half, the sort of goals you'd expect Beckford to be getting.
Yes, he needs the passes, but he has to make the movement as well.
I don't love or hate anybody, the facts are he is not delivering what we paid for, don't know about you, if I don't deliver what I get paid for,I will get put under pressure to produce. If I was to carry on like that I would get the boot..no matter what my excuses were...I suppose footballers are "special" though...
I don't think he is getting the sevice he should get. We have nothing on the wing and nothing in midfeild.
I suggest he stops worrying about what gally and dyer are doing or not doing and concentrates on his own game...score goals and he will be cheered ...I don't buy into the blame culture..
It's just so frustrating that it's such a simple thing as running around more!
He seems an athletic, quick type of player so it shouldn't be a problem - and you seem Nigel shouting at him, telling him to move and get back.
The only thing I can think of, is that he ends up ball watching when the play is in our area, rather than looking for space/gaps..
Same service as Nugent though City Fox..
I too like Beckford - when we signed him I thought he was the player we'd been crying out for for the past few years. He's a natural goalscorer and when he first arrived he looked genuinely sharp with great pace which you need up front in this division. As much as I think Billy Sharp's a quality player, Sharp and Nugent wouldn't exactly be the quickest front two around.
With Schlupp out I'd really like to see NP show some faith in the bloke and actually play him in a central role and for a whole game for once. His attitude's perhaps not great and whether or not he wants to be here only he can answer, but he's never really been given a run in the side. I mean, if Howard was getting picked over me I'd be pretty peeved too.
"Well to be honest, I'm not sure many are clapping Gallagher at the minute, let alone cheer him."
Seconded. I was amazed at the amount of abuse Gally was getting on Sat. He was getting cat calls and name calls as soon as he first touched the ball, and after a couple of mis-timed passes, the language and abuse aimed at him was beyond belief!

He seems to be a square peg in a round hole. He has proved himself to be a talented player in the past, but some players (and managers) do not do well when they move to a certain club- there can be many reasons. Best to let Beckford go asap, we are not doing him or ourselves any good, he will perform well again I'm sure if he moves to the right club.
I think the fans main issue with him relates to his attitude.
Gary Lineker wasn't the greatest at tracking back and wanted the ball playing for him to run on to, but he didn't strut around like the World owed him a living.
Beckford needs to show the fans he wants to be here or he needs to go. But equally, if he is prepared to run the channels and get into positions to create opportunities, then the fans owe him a chance.
Just make a bit of effort and make like you care !
Sorry but
1) He wasn't booed at Forest, certainly not by more than a very small minority if he was.
2) Stop saying that if he gets better service/chances he will score. He's had a shed load of chances and has only got 2 goals. Nugent's had the same service and has 8. At Forest Beckford had several more than half chances and had a mare with all of them.
He needs to get his act together and Sharpish (if you get my drift), he's got no one to blame but himself.
Cabtlebabes, i have watch every home game and 5 away games this season and can honestly say its not to do with service. Yes its not the very best but were are averaging around 10 chances per game. Beckford is just part of a team at Leicester and im not sure it suits him, at Leeds the team was built around him which is why he was more sucessful.
Time to roll your sleeves up boy and learn to be a player rather than sulk at every challenge you lose or pass thats not quite right, your not playing for Man Utd.
Im afraid beckford is heading into, adi akinbiyi / dj. campbell country..The clubs golden banjo award is under threat..if he doesn't want to end up a historic misfit,he needs to start delivering im afraid..
He needs to get his act together and Sharpish (if you get my drift),
For this comment Emilio you win the post of the day award!
It said a lot to me when he sauntered up to the stadium on transfer deadline day, trophy blonde on his arm, at 25 minutes to midnight .
Rob did he saunter? or was it more of a mincing?
A mincing saunter. Maybe he was just feeling sore.
I think some of you are talking about a different Beckford to the one playing for us?!
Ask any Everton or Leeds fan an they'll tell you he's not a natural finisher. Give him time and he'll mess up - but, don't give him time and he's very instinctive and score some good goals.
The problem with Beckford is you nee to play to his strengths. Balls over the top and in behind the defence or good delivery in to the box. He'd like Darren Bent in that aspect. Players like Nugent are much more adaptable.
So, my point is this. We either play to Beckford's strengths or sell him on as there's no point otherwise! I do however agree that it's a bit harsh to judge him when we've never played to his strengths!!!
Having just read some of the points raised on this article i guess that Billy Sharp wouldnt be liked by LCFC fans either.
He is a similar player to Beckford and doesnt get involved in build up play much either.
He certainly wont win many headers from kick and chase balls but will nip in front of defenders to win headers in the box.
If Nigel wants someone to chase back and defend then Billy isnt that man.
