I never read too much into tour games as quality players tend to life themselves for the big stage, however batting hasn't looked too good here yet. Cook as ever just goes about his business getting run after run. We have one more innings batting wise so would be happier to see some players spend more time in the middle.
Will be interesting to see how Monty bowls when he gets his chance and whether he can take it or not. Not sure about Onions on these pitches, tough place for him to come back into the side, good luck to him.

I would hope, given there are pro sportsman, that being No 1 would not add enough pressure to make them play badly and i hope that isn't used as an excuse by the management or Captain should we loose.

Prior goes.

I hope it doesn't get to the players but now days the way sportsman are treated and wrapped in cotton wool i wouldn't be surprised if it is used as an excuse. However hopefully we won't be in a position to need an excuse as i do think we'll win, just not sure either team will suffer to heavily in defeat however.

He really does love batting does cook, so nice to see players who just want to bat for as long as they can over and over and who guards his wicket as if it's the most important thing in the world to him. First of many on this tour i hope.

Without Broad in the side the tail looks long again but Swann can hold a bat so not too bad.

Onions is a good wicket to wicket bowler and on flat tracks that is what you need with a bit of swing off the seam to get people out.

Hopefully Monty is now back to his best and will take some wickets in this warm up game. I doubt we will go into the opening test with two spinners as we have Peitersen who can twirl a few if needed and i think our quicks will have too much for the Pakistan batting line up.

Monty will hit 50 n.o

Mark my words!!

Monty denied the chance of a certain 50 through a declaration. Similar to Athers declaring with Hick on 98 no. Just not fair !

From a Pak perspective good to see 2 young bowlers get wickets. Talha has played one test and is in the squad and Yasir is a good leggy.

Onions to Afaq Raheem, no run, loud loud appeal for lbw from the England team, bowler cant believe it.

Ajmal has named his secret delivery "Theesra" (3rd one). Its supposedly a ball that looks like its about to spin but doesnt. Is that already called a Flipper?

posted on 11/1/12
