Gazza.........
I know, but I just think other clubs don´t want to let go of key players mid season and that makes it very hard to get the right players.
I doubt the players AVB wants are available and that is why I don´t think we will sign anyone else this window.

That could just mean is that we are up to very little. We were badly stung by the January transfer window last year, it's the window she everyone puts their prices up and it's almost impossible to get value for money.
AVB should really have done what he needed to do in the summer IMO, the problems were pretty obvious from last year.
yeh why not get yourselves further in debt trying to catch the spurs.. dream on
The spurs. Is that like the aids?
How could AVB know Anelka/Alex would hand in transfer requests?
For the record, what problems were obvious? As far as I could see, he bought well in Mata and Meireles. Apart from a new RB, who should he have signed? How could he know that the form of certain key individuals would plummet the way it has?
Saying AVB should have known who to buy, considering he had barely even managed Chelsea in a competitive game, is ludicrous.

Remember we signed Torres and Luiz last season in January it was a big boost even though Torres is pap. Cahill and Hulk will do this year.
Yes AVB had to get to know the players firstHe did the right thing in giving them a chance to show him what they can´t do.
This summer is going to be the key, I don´t think we will sign anyone else before then, but if we do AVB has already said it will be one more player in the forward position.
Every time we try to sign a new player it always seems to drag on for days or weeks with news of the deal collapsing followed by news that the deal is nearly done followed by news that the deal is collapsing again.
It´s the Chelsea way, love or hate it you´re not going to change it.
He tried to implement a radical style of football with the same bunch of players who had looked so poor under Ancelotti. Expecting things to turn around with just the addition of Mata and Meireles was naive to say the least IMO.
I don't think anybody's form has 'plummeted' from last year, they weren't good enough under Carlo and they aren't good enough now.

Dear all, if you live near a villiage please see if they have lost their idiot, if so, tell them we have him over here.

Aye lad..................an I felt I needed image change
Well equally you could say that they were the same group of players that had looked so good when we one the double. For the record, from in August and September and then from March onwards we were the form team. Being the best team in the country for 5 months out of 9 is hardly synonymous with looking "so poor under Ancelotti".
No one has plummeted?
Cech was our player of the season last season, this year he couldn't catch a cold.
Ashley Cole can't defend
John Terry can't defend (despite being our best defender this season)
Drogba has one good game in ten.
Those four players (plus Lampard) are the spine of our team, this year they have been shadows of the players they were in previous seasons.

Which is why we need to bring in some top quality new players to complement the likes of Sturridge, Mata, Ramires, Luiz and Romeu who are the future of the club.

Yes, but getting the right ones in January will prove impossible.
I dont get what Revoltution and Superb are disagreeing about
What I will say is that during the last part of last season, when we eventually came 2nd, i dont think we played well at all. we got the job done in most games but the performances were imo dire. We capped off last season under Ancelotti with a loss against Everton and they have carried that on into this season.
This is the opening line from theBBC match report on the last game of the season for us
Jermaine Beckford scored an impressive solo goal to give 10-man Everton victory over lacklustre Chelsea.
Thats the word id use to describe us for the past year and a half. Lacklustre.

RA has spent the last 7 years trying to get us to play amazing expansive football,do you think he may finally give up?
Cole and Drogba were both showing poor form last year IMO.
JT has been our best defender and only struggled with the high line - since we have reverted he has been a different player.
Cech granted has had a substantial drop in form.
As Mr C points out, last year we were winning but not playing well at all and we got found out consistently when it really mattered.
The squad needed an overhaumayor course the club should take the blame for the consistent chopping and changing of managers which makes it more difficult for anyone coming in.
But AVB came in promising a change in philosophy but didn't seem to recognise that he had a group of players unable to adapt. He seemed to realise that a month too late.
