A mixture of not playing regularly, & being Lee Clarked !

I think he's okay...like many other players he needs a regular run in the team doing what he does best. Only by training hard and then getting a few games will the lad be able to show what he can do.

Don't think it's fair to have a go at him and many should remember how Rhodes was criticised last season and before for not being quick enough, strong enough or fit enough, could only play 60 minutes etc etc...

Gobern falls into the same category, potential but not playing regulalry.

Ward has been in and out but now looks more settled, and we said same of Novak and Alan Lee...and many others.

I'm sure Robinson will prove to be a great player for us.

I've yet to see him play well yet. He can run and run but he makes Novak look like Luis Figo in terms of footballing ability.

I have always been sceptical of players who have fallen and climbed back up, he has a limit to his talents at I think that limit is a small team in League One, we didn't need him it was a kid in a sweet shop signing and possibly the one that has prevented any January spending which I think is still needed..... If we were to go back and sign someone has any snapped up David Cotterill yet????

At least Gobern and Miller actually both want the ball. This lad doesn't even seem to want that.

I'm not a big fan of Tommy Miller, he doesn't do enough for me to warrant being in the team, either defensively or creatively. Gobern on the other hand is definitely one for the future, he has his off days but when he's on he's a very good footballer. He always shows for the ball and wants to be the focal point of the team when we play football. He reminds me a little bit of Danny Drinkwater who I rated very highly.

both he and mcdermott played in a fluid system last season..
robinson was the forward player in the central areas, this season he has to hold hands with whoever is playing alongside him..it does not suit him.. square pegs and all that..
I havent seen him play a good forward pass as yet...and the bookings and fouls he has given away just confim that he isnt happy where he is.. none have been "for the team" they are all because he is in the wrong place making a tackle from the wrong starting position.. On his displays for town you wouldnt truthfully believe he was a first division player..

Disappointed with Robinson so far but wouldn't write him off. Midfield was poor on Saturday. Would Miller and Robinson get into any of the teams around us. We need to strengthen midfield if we are to have a chance of automatic.

I think he was trying to sign ant & dec to keep his Geordie back room staff happy, think someone cocked the paperwork up!

simon..
if miller pushed up a bit and actually made an extra man in their half , whilst robinson held and made challenges in front of our back 4 it might work.. as they both hold too deep and in a line the ball is usually in front of them or behind them..
There are far too many time when a simple pass in the central area reaches an opponent who then turns and runs directly at our 2 central defenders, with our two midfielders the wrong side of the ball and influencing nothing defensively or going forward..
we play in lines with no depth to the defending and only square passes on should we win the ball.. thats probably not down to the players but the orders from on high..

Miller and Robinson are the kind of players you don't actually notice they are playing thay are that annonymous

Tommy Miller is much better than people think played at higher level than most of our team, it shows.

gobern was running the show again in the middle of the pitch until he had to go off. it totally killed our game.

Playing at a higher level doesn't necessarily make you a better player, it means you played at a higher level that's all. He wasn't rated highly by Wednesday fans and isn't rated highly by most Town fans, that says something. Damien Johnson seems to do nothing but does a lot, Tommy Miller seems to do nothing because he does nothing.

tommy miller is "smoke and mirrors"... he simply does not do enough in the most demanding positions in the team..
you have to have some quality in there but you have to have the legs in this division and he just hasnt..
with the ball going from back to front more often than not, its imperative that you can get up and down in this league..
its ok saying that town playing more football would bring tommy miller into the game, what about the other team when they get it forward in a direct manner??
miller is so far behind he makes no difference..
wycombe is one thing, a very hard working oldham was another..
maybe miller is a "horses for courses" player who would be selected when clark feels that the impending game is one where he would like us to play football and the opposition might just join in and try and play as well?

It would help if we had some 'ball players' at CB, just have the skill to bring it down and find a Town player instead of walloping it into row ZZ or down the 6'7" centre halfs' throat.

jacko..
3rd division centre backs...just clear it when you dont have time..
play it short to someone who can play when you do...

dont let it bounce if you can help it and dont go for balls that you simply cannot win...

stick like glue to a big centre forward and dont get too close to a smaller quicker one..

dont back off into your own penalty area(the players in this league are not messi) make them do something to score, dont just back off till a sh-t shot might very well end up in the net..

after clearing the ball from the penalty box, get out of it, quickly.

one man go to the ball when the opposition are breaking, everyone else pick someone up, forget the ball and stick like sh-t to a blanket with him..

very basic, but very obvious..

I appreciate players who do the nitty gritty in the centre of midfield, Many are not noticed by the fans, Most are valued by their team mates, tackling, tracking back, blocking and doing the simple stuff while covering nigh on every blade of grass,,, Their direct opponents should be coming off the pitch knowing they have been in a good tussle,,,,, Doyle, Wilson, Lee Richardson and Grant Johnson were good at it, Tommy Miller is not,, I watch what he does and 4 tacklies, 10 passes and a couple of aeriel challenges is not doing enough in 90 minutes for me, Add to that his lack of legs ??? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I actually feel for Robinson, He aint had a settled run in the side to show us what he did very successfully for the Cherries,,, I agree with Wardy in that we really needed neither Anton or Miller, But Clarky brought em in cos he could do,, Bradford, Crewe and Chesterfield were the competition we saw off to sign Miller which says it all really, And Robinson was signed purely on the fact that he had 4 good games against us.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I do believe that if Clarky got the boot the next man in would be saying similar stuff to Pearson at Leicester, "Unbalanced, and not about collecting players etc etc"

Dave Cowling ??

I'm going to stick up for LC here...(cough cough)...but...I think when these young 'uns come here they are a bit lacking in the fitness and coaching stakes, and it takes LC and his crew a while to not only get them up to scratch (and you could argue Rhodes is a good example of an unfit player...and Alan Lee)..and then to educate them into what is required of them. It's ok having the ability, but you need to be able to blend into the team ethic...so maybe Robinson, and maybe Ward and whatshisname from man city are the same...meanwhile damien Johnson is the finished article and when he's back I think it'll make all the difference..

I'm sure all this new additions will mature into top quality players in years to come, when we are in the Championship.

My New year resolution is to resonate optimism and encouragement, hoping my positive vibes yield the results and the success which negative criticism has so far failed to achieve..

arfield is undoubtedly the best, up and down player we have in the central area..
agreed he isnt the best passer or finisher but if you need someone to run up and down and have the legs then its him..
the tinkering with the team didnt help him..

i do think the lack of fluidity is our major problem..we very rarely suprise the opposition with someone ending up where he wasnt expected, that rhodes has scored so many of our goals sort of confirms that.. in a tough tight game like saturday its always going to be hard if only one of your two up top ever look like getting a chance to score..
ward did so much better in the first 20/25 when he popped up in central areas or just behind rhodes/novak to recieve it and get a shot away..
the best 45 minutes i ever saw roberts have was against le-ds with juckevic, roberts wandered about just inside their half and collected the ball and jinked past them towards the middle of the goal, lots of fouls gained in good positions..he went wide in the second half and dissapeared..
width is all well and good, mobility and interchanging is better.. ward had the full back coming inside on saturday and then it confused the centre backs who dropped back and allowed us more room in their half..
we then started lumping it in the air to their centre backs who pushed up and we had no room...
be honest, if you have ward/roberts/rhodes/novak all in their half, moving forward with the ball with someone supporting the attack from a central position, we should score enough goals or make enough chances to win most of the games..
we start too deep and simply dont have enough players in their half to keep the move going a lot of the time..
